Position Summary
The Vice President of Revenue Cycle is responsible for modeling the Compassus values of Compassion, Integrity, Excellence, Teamwork, and Innovation and for promoting the Compassus philosophy, using the 6 Pillars of Success as the foundation. S/he is responsible for upholding the Code of Ethical Conduct and for promoting positive working relationships within the company, among all departments, and all external stakeholders. The Vice President of Revenue Cycle oversees and manages all facets of the organization's revenue cycle operations. This position involves building and leading a dynamic team committed to excellence. By implementing a customer-centric approach, the Vice President of Revenue Cycle drives success in achieving both strategic and financial objectives. This role is pivotal in setting the strategic direction for the entire revenue cycle, offering valuable insights and guidance on strategic initiatives across the organization.
Position Specific Responsibilities
- Leads and provides direction for revenue cycle management and determines goals.
- Collaborates with RCM management team to improve production, revenue cycle metrics and the implementation of best practices.
- Works with Hospice, Home Health and Infusion leadership to help guide best practices surrounding admissions, pricing, billing, third party payer relationships, compliance, collections and other financial analyses to ensure that clinical revenue cycle is effective and highly functional.
- Tracks numerous metrics related to the revenue cycle including level of unbilled revenue, write-offs related to bad debt and revenue adjustments, accounts receivable and bad debt trends.
- Works with RC management to eliminate barriers to success and be a liaison between field leadership and the revenue cycle teams.
- Works directly with the compliance team to ensure proper billing/collections practices are being followed and developing and implementation of ongoing training needs are being fulfilled.
- Works directly with senior and executive leadership to ensure the revenue cycle team is supporting the field home health, hospice and infusion strategic initiatives are being supported and ultimately successful.
- Works closely with the finance teams to ensure revenue and adjustments to revenue are recorded properly and bad debt provisions are adequate.
- Performs monthly/quarterly evaluation of bad debt provisions by line of business and program to ensure the company is properly reserved for doubtful accounts.
- Works directly with RC leadership and performs quarterly AR reviews with team members.
- Communicates any adverse events to CFO, Hospice and Home Health leadership as soon as identified.
- Works to maintain positive, collaborative relationships with patients, caregivers, referral sources, and/or physicians.
- Conducts internal staff meetings and training activities, as needed.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Education and/or Experience
- Bachelor’s degree required.
- MBA preferred.
- Minimum of ten (10) years of active experience in health care management in the revenue cycle required.
- Working knowledge of medical terminology and Medicare/Medicaid rules preferred.
Skills
- Mathematical Skills: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percentage.
- Language Skills: Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from leaders, team members, investors, and external parties. Strong written and verbal communications.
- Other Skills and Abilities: Possesses excellent customer service skills. Has a positive attitude and willingness to learn throughout employment. Self-starter with the ability to work with both clinical and non-clinical staff members. Ability to learn and utilize software solution, inclusive of Divisional Workflow Tasks. Ability to understand, read, write, and speak English. Articulates and embraces hospice philosophy. Experience in Accounting principals, Data Analytics, Financial Analysis, Financial Reporting, Medical Billing, Process Analysis, and Financial Analysis Software.
Physical Demands and Work Environment: The demands of this role necessitate a team member to effectively perform essential functions. Visual acuity requirements include close and distance vision, color and peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
