Technician - Hair Care Appraisal Lab Coordinator
Role Purpose
The Hair Care Appraisal Lab Coordinator supports the end‑to‑end execution of Hair Care technical assessments, used for product development, marketing activation, and claims substantiation. This role ensures high‑quality, consistent, and digitally integrated appraisal data, to guide R&D decision‑making and strengthen claims rigor across the Hair Care program.
Key Responsibilities
Technical Testing & Lab Operations
- Conduct Hair Care appraisal studies following established SOPs for in-lab technical assessments. (e.g., wet feel, dry feel, manageability, hold, breakage, shine) to enable robust, reproducible technical readouts.
- Prepare hair tress substrates, using treatment protocols, and controlled testing environments aligned to study requirements.
- Maintain and continuously improve appraisal protocols, ensuring alignment with regulatory and claims standards, while refining methodologies based on evolving Hair Care needs.
Data Quality, Analysis & Digital Integration
- Ensure all technical data meets accuracy, reproducibility, and traceability standards, maintaining complete documentation of study design, execution steps, and raw data capture.
- Support the integration of appraisal data into digital systems, enhancing accessibility, automation, and reporting consistency.
- Partner with internal stakeholders to interpret technical output and enable claims‑ready insights.
Lab & Equipment Management
- Maintain equipment calibration, upkeep, and readiness for technical testing.
- Manage lab workflows, scheduling, and sample throughput to ensure efficient and timely study execution.
- Oversee inventory of lab consumables and ensure compliant handling, tracking, and storage of materials. This includes maintaining inventory of hair tresses and purchasing new supplies as needed.
Cross‑Functional Collaboration
- Work closely with R&D, Claims, Consumer Technical Insights, and Applied Measurement Science partners to align testing approaches with program objectives.
- Provide technical clarity to Marketing and project teams regarding the nature and limitations of appraisal data.
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in a scientific field (e.g., Cosmetic Science, Consumer Science, Chemistry, Biology, Materials Science) or equivalent technical experience.
- Experience in laboratory, appraisal, or technical testing environments—ideally within Hair Care or Beauty Care.
- Strong capability in following detailed SOPs with precision and scientific rigor.
- Proficiency in digital data systems, documentation, and lab instrumentation.
- Excellent organizational, documentation, and problem‑solving skills.
Skills & Competencies
- High attention to detail and commitment to data integrity.
- Strong technical curiosity and willingness to adopt new methods or digital tools.
- Ability to manage multiple studies in parallel with clear prioritization.
- Comfortable working hands‑on in a testing environment with hair tresses and product prototypes.
Pay: The pay range for this position is $ 48,900.00 - 73,300.00 USD . Unilever takes into consideration a wide range of factors that are utilized in making compensation decisions including, but not limited to, skill sets, experience and training, licensure and certifications, qualifications and education, and other business and organizational needs.
Bonus: This position is bonus eligible.
