Sustainable Sourcing Manager - Cocoa

Job Overview

This role is accountable for supplier sustainability performance and implementation of human rights and environmental due diligence across the company’s cocoa supply chain. It connects sustainability delivery with commercial decision-making, leads supplier and partner models, and ensures integrity of data inputs into reporting to deliver credible, audit-ready outcomes. The role leads delivery across suppliers and origins and contributes to shaping program design, partner strategy, and ways of working. 

Accountabilities

 

Supplier performance and commercial integration:

Influences supplier allocation, contracting strategy (MSAs, SOWs), and performance management decisions, including implementation and evolution of Long-Term Relationship (LTR) models to align commercial outcomes with sustainability and risk priorities. Represents company in supplier and partner engagements, influencing delivery models, expectations, and performance standards across the supply base.

 

 

Human Rights & Environmental Due Diligence (HREDD):

Accountable for implementation and supplier-level execution of due diligence frameworks across cocoa supply chains. Leads supplier-facing due diligence processes, including risk identification, mitigation tracking, and continuous improvement, ensuring alignment with regulatory expectations and delivery of measurable risk mitigation outcomes across suppliers and origins.

 

 

Program and partner strategy:

Leads the design and continuous improvement of supplier programs and partner models. Ensures alignment with company cocoa sustainability priorities and drives consistency across suppliers and origins. Contributes to partner selection, contracting approach, and program structure. Drives consistency and scalability of delivery models across suppliers, including alignment with LTR structures and long-term partner engagement strategies.

 

 

Team leadership and resource allocation:

Leads a multi-disciplinary team (direct reports and contractors), setting priorities, allocating resources, and driving delivery across suppliers and origins. Accountable for team performance, capability development, and ways of working in line with evolving business and regulatory needs.

 

 

Innovation and new origins development

Leads development of supplier and partner models in new and emerging origins (e.g., Ecuador, Brazil), including scoping, partner engagement, and early-stage program design and implementation.

 

 

Data, assurance, and reporting integration

Accountable for integrity of supplier data inputs and linkage to reporting outputs. Works in close collaboration with Data, Learning and Assurance roles to ensure consistency between program delivery, data capture, and reporting, supporting audit-ready documentation and insights-driven decision-making. Ensures data is used to inform supplier performance decisions, program adjustments, and commercial discussions.

 

 

 

Minimum Education & Requirements

 Education:

 

 

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Master’s degree

 

Experience:

 

  • Strong experience managing supplier relationships and sustainability program delivery in complex supply chains
  • Solid understanding of human rights and environmental due diligence frameworks and regulatory expectations
  • Demonstrated ability to connect sustainability delivery with commercial levers (supplier performance, allocation, contracting)
  • Strong negotiation and contract management skills (MSAs, SOWs, partner agreements)
  • Proven ability to lead cross-functional and external stakeholder alignment across regions and cultures
  • Strong program management capabilities across multiple origins. Experience implementing multistakeholder projects in rural/agricultural settings in Africa, Asia, or Latin America needed.
  • Track record of building relationships and working collaboratively with diverse partners, preferably across industry and civil society.
  • Experience working with sustainability data, verification, and reporting processes
  • Clear communication skills, with ability to translate technical requirements into actionable direction

 

Skills:

 

 

  • Fluent spoken and written French, Spanish and English. Portuguese is a plus.
  • Experience working across multiple geographies and cultures
  • Willingness to travel to cocoa origins as required
