Students and Graduates

Officina Leonardo is aimed at students graduating in the 2025-2026 academic year who are willing to take on a combined study and work experience in Campania, Italy. 

The initiative takes place in the Campania Region, and is aimed at supporting university studies and helping deserving young people from socio-economically disadvantaged backgrounds enter the world of work.

The initiative is designed to support university studies and entry into the job market for 15 students from socio-economically disadvantaged backgrounds, enabling them to:

• attend a Bachelor’s degree course in one of the following fields: Aerospace Engineering, Electronic Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Computer Engineering or Telecommunications Engineering;
• obtain an internship contract in the first year, followed by a part-time apprenticeship over the subsequent three years;
• receive continuous support through an onboarding programme and dedicated mentoring, as well as the technical equipment required for both work and study.

The selection process, supported by Synergie, is structured in several stages and is aimed at identifying candidates who best meet the programme’s requirements and objectives. The selection includes:

• preliminary assessment of all applications received, to verify eligibility requirements;
• first round of introductory interviews aimed at assessing motivation, aptitude and interest in the study and work pathway;
• second round of interviews conducted in line with Leonardo’s recruitment processes;
• communication of the outcome of the selection process to all candidates involved in the interviews;
• participation of selected students in a programme kick-off day, to be held in person. 

Who can apply?

Talented young people from socio-economically disadvantaged backgrounds who are currently in their final year of secondary school and are interested in pursuing a STEM-related study and work pathway in Campania after graduation.

What are the evaluation criteria?

Applications will be assessed primarily based on:

1. willingness and interest in undertaking the demanding study and work pathway offered by Officina Leonardo;
2. genuine motivation and aptitude for the proposed degree courses;
3. academic performance, with particular reference to results achieved during the fourth year and the first term of the final year of secondary school.

When will participation in Officina Leonardo be formalised?

Formalisation of participation and the issuance of the internship contract for selected candidates will take place after enrolment in one of the eligible Bachelor’s degree programmes (Aerospace Engineering, Electronic Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Telecommunications Engineering).

Will there be tutors during the programme?

Tutors will be assigned to ensure maximum effectiveness in both learning and skills development throughout the work experience.

What happens at the end of the programme?

Upon successful completion of the Bachelor’s degree within the expected timeframe, Leonardo will offer a permanent employment contract.

Where does the internship take place in the company?

At one of Leonardo's several sites in Italy.

How does the selection process take place?

After collecting the applications, the HR team evaluates and identifies CVs and cover letters that are most in line with the requirements. The selected people undergo an interview, remotely, to get to know the candidate and evaluate his/her technical qualifications.

How much is the expense reimbursement?

The expense reimbursement is 800 euros/month. There is also the possibility of receiving support to cover transfer costs, if any.

Undergraduates and graduates of three-year or master's degree programmes; professionals with a background in STEM disciplines and a strong interest in technological innovation and space.

Where will the hackathons take place?

18-19 April 2026 in Rome and 9-10 May 2026 in Milan. All logistical details will be communicated by email to those who will be selected to take part in the activities.

Is it necessary to have previous work experience?

Previous work experience is not required. It is essential to demonstrate solid skills in STEM subjects and a clear aptitude for technological innovation.

Are there any prizes?

Cash prizes will be awarded to the top three teams in each hackathon:

• First place: € 5,000
• Second place: € 3,000,00
• Third place: € 2,000,00

All participants who distinguish themselves during the challenge may be considered for future growth opportunities within the Group.

While professional experience is not a prerequisite, it is essential to demonstrate solid STEM skills and a strong aptitude for technological innovation.

Yes, the three teams that will be top-ranked will receive cash prizes:
