Royal Mail is looking for a proactive and highly organised Site Preparation Manager to support the expansion of our parcel locker network across the UK. This is a key role within the Locker Lab team, responsible for ensuring locker sites are fully prepared and ready for installation, helping to deliver a critical part of Royal Mail’s future out‑of‑home strategy.
About the Role
As a Site Preparation Manager, you will take ownership of the end‑to‑end site preparation process for parcel locker installations. Working with both Royal Mail teams and external site hosts, you'll assess site viability, coordinate surveys, manage enabling works and ensure each location is ready for successful deployment.
This role combines project management, stakeholder engagement, supplier management and operational delivery, making it ideal for someone who enjoys managing multiple workstreams and driving projects through to completion.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage the end‑to‑end site preparation process, from initial site assessment through to installation readiness.
- Coordinate surveys, review site viability and arrange enabling works such as electrical and civil engineering activities.
- Build strong relationships with third‑party site hosts, contractors, suppliers and Royal Mail stakeholders.
- Manage and challenge supplier quotes to ensure value for money and adherence to agreed budgets.
- Monitor delivery against standards, reviewing completed works and resolving issues where required.
- Drive continuous improvement by identifying opportunities to enhance processes, quality and efficiency.
About You
You are an organised and detail‑focused project professional who thrives working across multiple stakeholders and projects simultaneously. You are comfortable making decisions, managing contractors and driving activity forward in a fast‑paced environment. Strong communication skills and the ability to build credibility with both internal and external partners are essential.
What You'll Bring
- Experience managing projects, installations, deployments or site preparation activities.
- Experience working with contractors and suppliers, including managing performance and costs.
- Strong stakeholder management skills across operational, commercial and external environments.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver projects to agreed timescales.
- Excellent attention to detail and problem‑solving capability.
- Experience working with on street electrical instalations would be advantageous.
- Confidence using tracking and reporting software such as Jira and the ability to quickly learn new systems.
Role Impact
This role plays a vital part in the growth of Royal Mail’s parcel locker network, helping expand our out‑of‑home offering and supporting the business's long‑term competitiveness in the UK logistics market. You'll work with a nationwide network of stakeholders and contribute directly to a major strategic growth programme.
