International Affairs | International Students and ScholarsThe SEVIS Analyst and Compliance Officer contributes to the international dimension of The Ohio State University by overseeing the federally mandated record-keeping for institutional compliance with government agencies, creating policies to meet compliance, and by leading the maintenance of the third-party software system, Sunapsis, to ensure it aligns with business practices for compliance and office procedures.
Serves as the Primary Designated School Official (PDSO) for the F-1 Visa Program and as an Alternate Responsible Officer (ARO) for the J-1 Exchange Visitor Program. Stays current with SEVIS-related and regulatory updates and oversees federally mandated record-keeping to ensure institutional compliance with Department of Homeland Security (DHS) federal regulations in relation to the Student and Exchange Visitor System (SEVIS) of the Immigration and Customs Enforcement agency (ICE). Manages and oversees collection and transmission of data to DHS by coordinating record and data flow from the in-house databases to SEVIS; is responsible for making decisions regarding parameters to be used for assembly of data to ensure accuracy and appropriateness with the regulations. Provides regulatory compliance guidance to the Director and staff. SEVIS compliance contact for Graduate School, GIP Admissions, UAFYE, and IELT, SEVP and DHS. Assists in the dissemination of federal regulatory information to campus partners.
Manages SEVIS batching compliance audit; manages audits requested by DHS and internal audits. Advises DSOs and AROs on SEVIS event creation in Sunapsis and provides guidance in SEVIS compliance-related issues; assists with the creation of new and improved procedures and guidelines; provides reports and statistics. Supports the international student and scholar advising staff with evaluation, analysis and interpretation of federal non-immigrant compliance regulations. Supports the academic mission by working collaboratively with academic departments and service units primarily on F-1, J-1, and H-1B regulatory issues as they pertain to student and scholar success. Serves on campus-wide technical and business committees.
Oversees and maintains enterprise software systems and partners closely with ODTI and other campus stakeholders on all SEVIS technology, including but not limited to Sunapsis, PeopleSoft and Workday. Oversees data conversion, business processes and software education and training of office staff and clientele using Sunapsis. Works with ODTI and stakeholders on software upgrades and issues and adjusts business processes as needed. Supervises staff working with SEVIS batching and software implementation and maintenance.
Minimum Education Required
- Bachelor's Level Degree in computer science or related field or equivalent combination of education and experience
- 5 years of relevant experience required.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related field or equivalent education/experience;
- Five or more years working with federal regulations affecting foreign students and scholars (F-1, J-1, and H-1B);
- Five or more years working in a compliance position in an international office;
- Five or more years of experience working with PeopleSoft Student Information Systems (SIS) or external systems, such as Sunapsis, in relation to the Student and Exchange Visitor Information System (SEVIS);
- Five or more years of experience designing, building, and maintaining data interface between SIS and Sunapsis;
- Five or more years of experience with SQL relational databases;
- Five or more years of experience in systems analysis;
- Five or more years of experience in data visualization
- Proficiency in MS Office suite or equivalent applications;
- Excellent written and interpersonal communication skills;
- Experience working with teams of diverse backgrounds and technical skills;
- Ability to collaborate and work in a team environment;
- Demonstrated customer service skills;
- Excellent organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills;
- Demonstrated ability to work well in a high volume, fast-paced international education environment; and
- Must be a U.S. Citizen or a Permanent Resident.

The Targeted Hiring Range for this position is $64,900 - $84,850. The actual salary paid to an individual will vary based on multiple factors, including but not limited to, education, years of experience, internal equity, etc.
