POSITION SUMMARY
The Senior Staff Field Service Engineer has extensive interaction with customer onsite resources and is required to communicate with technical support departments. The Senior Staff Field Service Engineer will attend site escalation meetings and assist in carrying out recovery plans. At the request of the Service Manager, and/or the Technical Support Engineer(s), may be required to represent the site in technical meetings.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
Daily activities will include a wide range of tasks from routine maintenance to troubleshooting and repairing down equipment. (E)
Responsible for training customer and lower level FSE’s by providing in depth, on the job training. (E)
Will be required to assist in completing tool upgrades and retrofits and may be required to document these procedures for subsequent Fab modifications. (E)
May be required to carry out skills audits and make recommendations on improvement areas for lower-level site FSEs and, when necessary, provide training to ensure quality of all maintenance activities. (NE)
Role model regular Safety Audit completion, identifying hazards and rectifying/escalating as appropriate; effective use of Stop the Job authority. (E)
Role model a consistent high level of workmanship - checking your work, ensuring fix first time, checklist/procedure adherence in line with expectations. (E)
Full certification and technical competence on all Hitachi tool models at the site at which you are based. (E)
Download and utilization of detailed equipment log/error code analysis in order to investigate technical issues and develop action plans. (E)
Ongoing mentorship and training of less experienced Engineers within the team, sharing knowledge and augmenting the technical expertise within the whole team. (E)
Ability to work independently in a self-motivated fashion, resolving new and/or diverse technical issues. (E)
Diplomacy, listening, sensitivity to political factors, negotiation skills, collaboration and synergistic behaviors are required. (E)
Ability to provide more complex service support, providing plans of action even for situations not previously encountered. (E)
Leadership of technical Task Forces and/or escalated issues, utilizing model-based problem-solving techniques to drive action plans, technical reporting, critical decision making and after-action reviews. (E)

EDUCATION, LICENSES AND CERTIFICATION
• Bachelor’s or Associate's Degree in related field preferred (or)
• Military experience or equivalent combination of education and work experience in a related field (i.e. Mechanical, Electrical, Electronics, Chemical or similar discipline)
• Will be required to complete specific training i.e. Level I, II and III as it pertains to Hitachi High-Tech specific semiconductor etch tools; and pass the related certifications.
EXPERIENCE
Minimum 5 years experience supporting capital equipment in a semiconductor environment at a senior technical level having demonstrated high levels of customer satisfaction. (E)
Experience and knowledge of the following technologies:
Electronic, electrical, and electro-magnetic devices (E)
Pneumatic and mechanical systems (E)
Vacuum technology (E)
Analog and digital circuitry (E)
Digital voltmeters, oscilloscopes, data loggers and hand tools (E)
RF, microwave systems (E)
Gas delivery, monitoring devices and the application of various gases used in etching processes (E)
Robot/Wafer handling systems (E)
Understanding of electrical and mechanical blueprints and schematics. (E)
Good computer skills, with competency in common office applications such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint. (E)

Expertise in all FSE family tasks for all tool models at customer site

WORK ENVIRONMENT / POSITION & SAFETY RISKS & HAZARDS
Work in a semiconductor manufacturing cleanroom environment fully suited in clean-room garments, PPE and self-contained breathing apparatus (when required).
The cleanroom environment contains electrical, pneumatic, compressed gas, mechanical, radiation hazards.
Work compressed workweeks and overtime when required
Warning: This job requires working on equipment or in work areas where electromagnetic frequencies may be present from some of the equipment which could possibly interfere with certain medical implants or devices.
