Global Digital Banks is BBVA's digital banking unit present in the market with a significant presence in the retail business in Italy since 2021 and in Germany since 2025.

We are a large multidisciplinary team, located in Madrid, Milan, and Frankfurt, working together to expand the existing product and service offering and improve our clients' experience.

The position will be located in Frankfurt  and will work closely with the Risk team in Madrid and the Business team in Frankfurt.

About the job:

Lead the end-to-end credit risk underwriting function for the German mortgages portfolio. Own admission strategy, decisioning frameworks, and risk performance, ensuring alignment with regulatory requirements and business objectives.

Main functions of the role

  • Define credit risk admission policies for the BBVA Germany mortgages portfolio, ensuring consistency with BBVA global standards and local regulatory requirements

  • Design mortgage underwriting processes, including decision flows, governance, and controls

  • Contribute to the design and review of mortgage contracts and documentation from a risk perspective

  • Collaborate with the product manager to shape mortgage offering, including risk-based pricing, target segments, and portfolio positioning

  • Oversee definition, tracking, and reporting of key risk KPIs

  • Credit risk decisioning for mortgage applications

  • Credit risk decisioning on refinancing applications for mortgages (also consumer loans and cards)

  • Support the definition of admission policies for consumer lending products, ensuring consistency of risk approach

What are we looking for?

Education:

  • Degree in Business Administration, Economics, Engineering, Law or equivalent

Experience and knowledge:

  • Minimum 7 years of experience in retail credit risk, with a strong focus on mortgage underwriting in Germany

  • Proven track record managing underwriting teams or functions with decision-making authority

  • Deep understanding of the German mortgage market, including distribution channels, collateral practices, and borrower behaviour

  • Strong knowledge of European and German regulatory frameworks (e.g. CRR/CRD, EBA guidelines, MaRisk, consumer protection requirements)

  • Solid grasp of the full mortgage credit lifecycle, especially origination, underwriting, and loan activation processes

  • Experience with admission models and risk parameters (PD, LGD, affordability metrics)

  • Experience in data analysis and data-driven decision-making
