The Mid‑Level Application Packaging Engineer is responsible for delivering the bulk of application packaging activities for the organization, ensuring applications are reliably deployed through Intune and Company Portal.
This role works independently on standard and moderately complex packages and contributes to maintaining a scalable, DevOps‑driven packaging process.
What You'll Do:
Application Packaging & Deployment
Package, test, and deploy Windows applications using:
Win32 / MSI / MSIX formats.
Intune and Company Portal.
Maintain application detection rules, requirements, supersedence, and deployment assignments.
Support application lifecycle activities: updates, replacements, and retirements.
DevOps & Automation
Work with Microsoft DevOps repositories and pipelines for application packaging.
Maintain packaging scripts and templates following team standards.
Use PowerShell scripting to support installation logic, detection, and remediation.
Operations & Support
Troubleshoot application deployment failures and installation issues.
Collaborate with endpoint engineers to ensure correct policy targeting and device compatibility.
Maintain accurate documentation for packaged applications and deployment behavior.
What You Bring:
4–6 years in application packaging or endpoint engineering.
Hands‑on experience administering Intune beyond application deployment.
Exposure to modern packaging models (MSIX, Store‑based apps).
Experience using 3rd‑party application packaging tools.
PowerShell scripting to support:
Application installation logic.
Detection and requirement rules.
Remediation scripts for failed deployments.
Microsoft Graph API scripting to:
Automate application inventory and deployment reporting.
Support bulk operations and lifecycle management in Intune.
Working knowledge of ITIL processes, like Incident and request handling related to application deployment, and Change management for application releases.
Experience collaborating with service desks and endpoint operations teams in an ITSM‑driven environment. Awareness of how packaging activities impact SLAs, user experience, and service stability.
Knowledge and experience with Artificial Intelligence solutions will be considered a plus, especially Microsoft Copilot: Understanding of how AI based tools can support Operational efficiency and automation.
