Lead Software Engineer
About the department: The Application Development team builds and supports the internal systems that power Clearbridge’s global investment, research, and operational functions. The team partners closely with colleagues in New York and across international offices, working in a collaborative, engineering‑focused environment. Joining this group gives you exposure to enterprise‑scale platforms, modern cloud technologies, and opportunities to lead meaningful technical initiatives that directly support a world‑class investment business. How you will add value? Core Responsibilities: You will: Analyze systems and contribute to solution design. Design and build integrations and workflow automations. Develop and configure applications and services. Test and refine business logic and application enhancements. Resolve system issues and support performance optimization. Create and maintain technical documentation. Validate implementations and drive continuous improvement. Strategic Responsibilities: Collaborate with cross‑functional partners to deliver quality solutions. Mentor team members and help set work priorities. Conduct periodic and annual performance reviews. Support additional initiatives as assigned. Team & Collaboration: Work with global colleagues to deliver scalable, user‑focused applications. What will help you be successful in this role? Experience, Education & Certifications: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or related field. 7+ years of software development experience. Knowledge of investment‑industry systems is a plus. Technical Skills: Strong Java or C# development skills. Experience with Azure Integration Services. Ability to build REST and SOAP services. Front‑end familiarity with HTML, CSS, JavaScript, React, and jQuery Strong SQL and ORM experience. Experience migrating or building applications in Azure. Understanding of CI/CD and DevOps practices. Soft Skills: Ability to communicate technical concepts clearly. Comfort working in financial or investment‑management environments. Strong collaboration skills. Ability to motivate and guide a team.
