The Head of Operations & Delivery is a critical leadership role reporting to the Executive Manager Freight,  responsible for delivering safe, reliable and on-time freight operations across Qantas Freight’s terminal and trucking network. With full P&L accountability, this role leads a large and diverse workforce, driving strong customer outcomes and operational excellence within a complex, highly regulated environment.

You will shape and execute the strategic direction of the business, leading transformation across digital, technology and operating models to unlock growth and efficiency. With a strong focus on people leadership, you will build and uplift capability, fostering accountability and engagement at scale. You will also partner closely with senior stakeholders across the Group and externally to influence key investments, strengthen commercial partnerships, and position Freight for long-term success in a competitive global market.

What you’ll bring to the role:

  • Significant executive leadership experience (15+ years) within large, complex, industrial organisations.
  • Proven track record leading large-scale transformation across operations, digital or technology environments.
  • Strong commercial acumen, with experience managing P&L, investment decisions and driving financial outcomes.
  • Credible and influential leader, with the ability to engage and partner with C-suite stakeholders internally and externally.
  • Experience leading large, diverse and unionised workforces in complex, high-pressure environments.
  • Deep expertise in strategic planning, operational delivery and executing cross-functional initiatives at scale.
  • Strong people leader with a passion for building high-performing, engaged and accountable teams.
  • Resilient and adaptable, with the ability to lead through ambiguity, complexity and change.
  • Commercially and customer focused, with a drive for performance, innovation and continuous improvement.
  • Tertiary qualified, with postgraduate education highly regarded.
