Head of Education Strategy, APJ , AWS Global Education, WWPS
AWS Global Education is looking for a senior education leader to set the strategic direction for how we engage with education customers across Asia-Pacific and Japan (APJ). You will be the person who defines where AWS invests, which customers we prioritize, and what the growth story looks like for higher education, research, EdTech, and skilling in the region. You will shape the narrative that university leaders, ministry officials, and EdTech founders hear when they think about AWS and the future of their sector.
This is a senior individual contributor role, not a management role. You will be the most senior education voice in the region. The executives running our sales and public sector business will turn to you for guidance on education customers. The university presidents and EdTech CEOs across APJ will know you by name. You set the strategy, build the relationships, develop the playbooks, and raise the credibility of everyone around you when it comes to education.
Key job responsibilities
Set the strategic direction for how AWS engages the education market across APJ, working in partnership with regional education specialists and sales teams and drawing on customer signals from the field. Translate global education priorities into a regional strategy that is actionable locally, and ensure regional insights feed back to inform global direction.
Serve as the primary education strategist to regional executive leadership. Ensure education is visible, understood, and prioritized in regional investment decisions, resource allocation, and executive planning.
Bring coherence across research, higher education, EdTech, and skilling efforts in the region. Create a single, integrated education story that regional leadership can act on.
Represent AWS at the executive and policy level externally. Engage ministry officials, industry bodies, and senior institutional leaders where strategic positioning and long-term market development require a senior voice.
Shape the regional education narrative for executive audiences. Develop briefing materials, talking points, and strategic positioning that regional leaders use in their own conversations.
Identify market shifts, competitive threats, and growth opportunities across the region.
