Nursing | College AdministrationThe Executive Director of Clinical Practice is a Doctorly prepared Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN)/Advanced Practice Provider (APP) who provides clinical, strategic, and operational leadership for the Ohio State University (OSU) Total Health Care Center (THCC), a public entity Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC). This role ensures delivery of high-quality, patient-centered care, and compliance with all Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) Health Center Program Requirements. The Executive Director of Clinical Practice is responsible for the comprehensive oversight of Advanced Practice Providers (APPs) and multiple interprofessional providers across all FQHC sites. The Executive Director of Clinical Practice oversees clinical operations; provider recruitment, performance, and retention; quality improvement; care coordination; and population health initiatives to advance the organization’s mission of equitable and accessible healthcare. In addition, the Executive Director of Clinical Practice promotes, supports, and advocates for the members of the interprofessional team to work at the top of scope of education, certification, and licensure.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Report directly to the CEO of the OSU Total Health Care Center
- Directly oversee and supervise the day-to-day clinical operations of all THCC sites.
- Provide leadership and direction through Senior Managers (M3) or Managers (M2 and M1).
- Assist APP Managers with recruitment and supervision of advanced practice providers.
- Assist Behavioral Health, Social Work, and Dental Managers with recruitment and supervision.
- Maintain current knowledge regarding today’s healthcare environment, including all THCC disciplines/interprofessional providers: Nursing (APRNs, RNs, LPNs), Medicine, Dentistry (Dentists, DAs, RDHs), Social Work, Behavioral Health, Women’s Health, Pharmacy, Dietetics, and essential support staff.
- Insure qualified and competent individuals are employed and credential/appointment/reappointment processes maintained.
- Serve as clinical resource to all departments.
- Provide oversight/direct supervision of clinical performance/productivity and quality performance benchmarks.
- Collaborate with the Lead Clinicians (APP, Physician, Social Work, Behavioral Health) to ensure that all clinical sites are operating productively, effectively and efficiently.
- Coordinate monthly meetings with Clinical Department leadership including the Chair of Family and Community Medicine.
- Oversee and maintain all clinical policies and procedures.
- Maintain a .2 FTE (or less) primary care clinical practice.
- Represent/Advocate for THCC clinical professions to external partners or governing bodies to advance and influence clinical practice at the local, regional, and states levels.
- In collaboration with the Chief Executive Officer and the Director of Quality Assurance and Process Improvement, ensure compliance with all Federal/HRSA, State, Local, and other grant requirements.
- Member of the OSU THCC Executive Team and works collaboratively with the Director of Finance and CEO to ensure fiscally sound practices within Clinical Departments.
- Liaison to the Total Health and Wellness Community Care, INC Board of Directors.
- Ensure regulatory compliance and standards of care. Ensure HRSA Operational Site Visit (OSV) readiness and policy compliance.
- Represent THCC to outside agencies and entities.
Additional Information:
Required Qualifications
- Master's of Science Degree in Nursing or Master's in Physician Assistant Science. APRN License with Certification as an NP or PA-C. 10 years of relevant experience required. 15 or more years of relevant experience preferred.
- Previous administrative leadership experience, including knowledge of NP/APP and interprofessional primary care practice
- Current Ohio RN and APRN license.
- Holds Credentials to practice at OSUWMC as an APRN-CNP
Preferred/Desired Qualifications
- Knowledge and expertise in principles, practices and theories across multiple disciplines in addition to experience in leading a team, project, or program.
- Knowledge of HRSA requirements and quality frameworks.
- Experience in delivery of primary care.
- Experience with Medicaid/Medicare populations.
- Experience with 340B compliance.
Minimum Education required, degree level and focus area: Master's of Science Degree in Nursing or Master's in Physician Assistant Science. APRN License with Certification as an NP.
- Preferred Education: Doctorate Degree in Nursing (DNP, DNE).
