Atrium Health Wake Forest Baptist is a nationally recognized academic health system, and our Winston Salem Campus is a level 1 trauma center. While working in the Inpatient Anesthesia Department, you will expand your skillset by working on a wide variety of cases, including but not limited to: Orthopedic, Vascular, Burns, Cardiothoracic (specific team), Neurology, ENT, General/Abdominal, Robotic, Gynecology. Other cases you may experience, outside of the day-to-day, include: EP, IR, MRI, Burn Tank, Brachytherapy, and Transesophageal Echocardiography (TEE).

What You’ll Do:

As a valued member of our healthcare team, the CRNA will play a key role in team-focused patient care, providing anesthesia using safe and quality techniques during Inpatient Procedures. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Potential for and encouraged to precept Student Nurse Anesthetists – opportunity to mentor and assess these medical students.
  • Uses medical decision-making skills to determine appropriate patient care plan to ensure peri-operative and anesthesia care, being sensitive to co-morbidities and age & developmental guidelines.
  • Collaborates with medical team when needed for effective team-based care;
  • Uphold patient safety, drive quality improvement, and promote infection prevention within job responsibilities and initiatives.
  • Document and maintain patient records in compliance with hospital standards, ensuring confidentiality.
  • Maintain scheduling flexibility, readiness, and punctuality to deliver timely patient care.
  • Exhibit professionalism through teamwork, collaboration, and a commitment to ongoing professional development
  • Contribute to cost containment efforts by conserving resources.

The clinician functions under the regulatory mandate from their respective licensing organization (North Carolina Medical Board or North Carolina Board of Nursing) with departmental specific credentialing from the institution.

CRNA Requirements:

  • Graduation or enrollment in/of an Accredited Nurse Anesthesia Program
  • Registered Nurse licensure from the State of North Carolina Board of Nursing
  • Current CPR Certification – ACLS, BLS
