Minimum Education Required:
Bachelor's Level Degree or equivalent combination of education and experience with a Major in biological sciences, health sciences or medical field.
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree in biological sciences, health sciences or medical field, or equivalent combination of education experience; experience in research capacity desired; knowledge or experience in specialty may be desired; experience in phlebotomy may be desired; experience performing basic laboratory procedures to process biological specimens may be desired; computer skill required with knowledge of database software applications desired. Final candidates are subject to successful completion of a background check. A drug screen or physical may be required during the post offer process.
Additional Information:
Clinical Research Assistant is to coordinate and perform daily clinical research activities in accordance with approved protocols administered by the Coccaro Anger Research Laboratory in the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Health. We are an advanced psychiatry lab focusing on anger studies, specifically DSM-5 Intermittent Explosive Disorder (IED). We utilize functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI), inflammatory assays, and different forms of medication administrations/medication effects on brain and behavior. We are looking to recruit a highly skilled, organized, responsible, motivated, and conscientious individual to manage NIAAA, NIMH, and NIDDK-funded research studies. The Clinical Research Assistant assists with screening and identifying volunteers who are eligible to participate in specified clinical research protocols; recruits, interviews and enrolls participants; obtains informed consent and ensures consent process is administered in compliance to regulatory and sponsor requirements; educates participants of purpose, goals, and processes of clinical study; coordinates scheduling and follow-through of study appointments and procedures in accordance with study protocol; participates in the collection, processing & evaluation of biological samples; administers, evaluates and calculates standardized scoring of diagnostic, psychological and behavioral testing and questionnaires; assists with monitoring participants for adverse reactions to study drug or procedure and notifies appropriate clinical professional to evaluate participant response, identify status of complications, & provide appropriate level of care; documents unfavorable responses and notifies research sponsors & applicable regulatory agencies; participates in evaluating participants for compliance related to protocol; assists with collecting, extracting, coding, and analyzing clinical research data; generates reports and reviews to ensure validity of data; supports activities to ensure compliance with all Institutional Review Boards (IRB), FDA (Federal Drug Administration), federal, state and industry sponsor regulations; assists with coordinating and preparing for external quality assurance and control reviews by IRB, federal or industry sponsors; keeps all tracking logs up-to-date; maintains status trackers; communicates on a daily basis with managerial staff regarding participant statuses; communicates efficiently with medical and clinical psychology staff; participates in activities to develop new research protocols and contributes to establishment of study goals to meet protocol requirements.
