About Lihir
Our Lihir Operation, located on the beautiful island of Niolam, approximately 800km north of Papua New Guinea's capital, Port Moresby, is one of the world’s largest gold mines. Set within a geothermically active, extinct volcanic crater, Lihir operates an open-pit mine producing refractory ore, which undergoes pressure oxidation and conventional leaching to recover gold. Our workforce includes both residential and commute rosters, creating a diverse and dynamic team. Lihir offers a range of recreational facilities, including a gym, sports club, restaurant, bar, swimming pool, tennis and squash courts, and a 9-hole golf course. Purpose
The primary role of a Servicemen – Tyres is to service and maintain tyres for a variety for earthmover equipment in the mining fleet, all ancillary and support equipment in accordance with site safe working procedures and manufacture specifications
Essential Duties
Safety & Sustainability
- Ensures personnel and team compliance with all company HSE requirements & policies including Fitness for Work.
- Complete any HSE tasks only if the hazards and any potential consequences are understood and any corrections are first agreed by the relevant Supervisor.

Operational Excellence
- Carry out routine service in accordance with OEM recommendations on mobile fleet as required.
- Ensure documentation, maintenance and service records for equipment are complete and kept up to date.

- Actively seeks cost reduction opportunities and identifies & reports any cost wastage within designated area.

- Works constructively within a diverse group of people.
- Delivers consistently on commitments and takes accountability for own development.
Training & Experience
Knowledge & Experience
- Relevant experience in Tyre maintenance and servicing mobile fleet.
- Relevant experience dump truck tray mat maintenance repairs.
- Good verbal and written communication skills.
- Self-motivated with the ability to work autonomously from time to time.
- High attention to detail with good time management skills.
- Strong active listening & interpersonal skills.
- Complete prestart inspections on tyre shop equipment according to site procedures
- Record tyre / rim change information in an accurate manor
- Perform periodical inspections according to site procedures on all operational equipment
- Perform equipment and tooling calibrations according to site procedures
- Fit and remove wheels from any type of vehicle according to site procedures
- Operate tyre handler according to site procedures
- Inspect rim and wheel components to determine their serviceability
- Maintain tyre operating pressures in accordance to manufacturers specifications
Experience:
- 2-3 years industry experience in fitting tyres for Heavy Equipment.
- Experience in the completion of task effectively and safely.
- Completion paperwork associated with the task or other requirements.
Skills & Abilities:
- Aware of risk and hazards of working with tyres.
- Good tyre technical knowledge.
- Good written & verbal communication skills.
- Professional attitude and demeanor.
- Adaptable / Flexible approach.
Working Conditions
This role is offered on a 28/14 Fly in, Fly out (FIFO) roster from multiple locations in PNG to Lihir island.
