Asset Manager, Closure & Remediation (Rio Tinto Services Inc., South Jordan, UT):

Creating and implementing strategies for site closure, or remediation projects. Develop and manage site-specific asset strategies, budgets, and schedules in alignment with Rio Tinto’s closure standards and regulatory requirements. Serve as the primary liaison with federal, state, and local regulatory agencies, ensuring transparent and proactive communication. Oversee environmental assessments, risk evaluations, and remediation design in collaboration with internal teams and external consultants. Ensure compliance with all applicable environmental laws, permits, and corporate standards. Coordinate with legal, technical, and community relations teams to manage stakeholder expectations and reputational risk. Monitor contractor performance and ensure adherence to safety, environmental, and quality standards. Prepare and present reports, updates, and recommendations to senior leadership and external stakeholders.

 
Telecommuting permitted up to 2 days per week.

Full time employment, Monday – Friday, 40 hours per week.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:


Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, or a related field, and 4 years of related work experience. In lieu of a bachelor’s degree, the employer will accept an additional 2 years of related work experience.


Must have 4 years of experience in each of the following:

  • Environmental, legal and regulatory aspects of the mining or natural resources industry; 

  • Project management, including budgeting, scheduling, and contractor oversight; 

  • Asset management software and tools: SAP or GIS;

  • Legacy site risk assessment and environmental long-term monitoring programs; and 

  • Experience in the mining industry.

Must have 3 years of experience in:

  • Conducting work in accordance with U.S. federal and state environmental regulations including CERCLA, RCRA, or NEPA.

International travel required up to 10%, domestic travel required up to 50%.
