Job Description:

The opportunity

At Hitachi Energy, you’ll help advance a sustainable energy future by ensuring the software that keeps grids safe, reliable, and efficient meets the highest quality standards. In this role, you’ll lead quality assurance across the software development life cycle for products used by utilities and energy leaders to plan investments, operate networks, and optimize high‑value assets. You’ll be at the center of transforming how mission‑critical grid software is conceived, built, tested, and delivered—partnering with engineering, product, and service teams to bring dependable, secure solutions to customers globally.

You’ll define the QA vision and turn it into action: quality improvement plans, test strategies, and measurable KPIs that drive day‑to‑day decisions and long‑term outcomes. Your work will span modern development methods (agile, waterfall, hybrid) and deployment models (cloud and on‑premises), balancing speed with rigor. You’ll champion data integrity behind quality metrics, lead audits for compliance and effectiveness, and move swiftly from root cause analysis to corrective and preventive action when issues arise.

Most of all, you’ll help shape resilient, trustworthy grid automation software that operators rely on every day. If you’re energized by building quality into complex systems, influencing standards, and delivering outcomes that matter to communities and industries worldwide, we’d love to meet you.

How you’ll make an impact

  • Define and track quality KPIs; report concise progress updates to leadership.
  • Lead audits and reviews for compliance and effectiveness; drive follow‑up actions.
  • Resolve escalated customer issues and lead root cause analyses to closure.
  • Approve test strategies and plans; ensure comprehensive, risk‑based coverage.
  • Validate data behind KPIs; correct inconsistencies and strengthen governance.
  • Evaluate and improve SDLC tools and configurations; introduce fit‑for‑purpose solutions.
  • Explore AI and industry trends to enhance quality assessment and efficiency.
  • Foster a learning culture through structured lessons‑learned and continuous improvement.
  • Responsible to ensure compliance with applicable external and internal regulations, procedures, and guidelines.

Your background

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • 5+ years of software Quality Assurance experience
  • 5+ years in process definition for developing and delivering software.
  • Proven track record setting and monitoring quality KPIs for complex software.
  • Strong analytical skills with hands‑on experience conducting RCAs and preventive actions.
  • Deep experience with QA across all SDLC stages; proactive issue identification and resolution.
  • Effective communicator and people leader for cross‑functional, globally distributed teams.
  • Familiar with audits to standards such as ISO 9001 and ISO 12207; process rollout experience.
  • Knowledge of waterfall, agile, and hybrid lifecycles; cloud and on‑prem deployment practices; contemporary QA tools and processes.
  • Bonus: Quality certifications (e.g., Lean Six Sigma Green/Black Belt).
