As Vice President of Technology for LATAM Merchant Technology, this role will lead the regional technology strategy, execution, and innovation for payment processing platforms that serve merchants across Latin America. The VP of Technology will drive scalable solutions, ensure regulatory compliance, and foster cross-functional collaboration to deliver seamless, secure, and high-performing payment experiences.

This role is pivotal in aligning LATAM’s Merchant Technology roadmap with Global Payment objectives while tailoring solutions to the region’s unique market dynamics, customer behaviors, and regulatory environments.

Key Responsibilities

  • Strategic Leadership

    • Define and execute the LATAM technology strategy for the LATAM Business and Global Payments.

    • Align regional initiatives with global product, engineering, and business goals.

    • Represent LATAM in global forums, advocating for regional needs and opportunities.

  • Technology Execution

    • Oversee architecture, development, and deployment of merchant acquiring platforms.

    • Execute projects through collaboration with business partners and Products to achieve financial goals.

    • Ensure high availability, scalability, and security of payment systems.

    • Champion modernization efforts including cloud migration, API-first design, and microservices.

    • Responsible for capital expenditure in line with corporate guidelines annually.

  • Team & Talent Management

    • Lead and grow a high-performing regional engineering team.

    • Foster a culture of innovation, accountability, and continuous improvement.

    • Mentor senior leaders and build succession plans.

  • Stakeholder Engagement

    • Partner with LATAM business leads, risk, compliance, and operations to deliver integrated solutions.

    • Collaborate with global product and engineering teams to share best practices and co-develop capabilities.

  • Regulatory & Risk Oversight

    • Ensure compliance with regional payment regulations, data privacy laws, and security standards.

    • Proactively manage technology risk and support audit readiness.

Qualifications

  • 15+ years of experience in technology leadership roles, with deep expertise in payment processing and merchant acquiring.

  • Proven success leading large-scale platforms in LATAM or similar emerging markets.

  • Strong understanding of payment networks, acquiring banks, interchange, and settlement flows.

  • Directed strategic oversight of departmental budgets and capital expenditures, leveraging advanced financial acumen to optimize resource allocation.

  • Experience with regulatory frameworks across LATAM (e.g., Chile’s CMF, Mexico’s SPEI).

  • Fluency in Spanish and English.

  • Exceptional communication, stakeholder management, and strategic planning skills.
