You own the lifecycle from discovery with stakeholders to scaled delivery, adoption, and continuous improvement while developing people and strengthening our standards for quality, safety, and impact.
What you will do:
- Build and maintain relationships with business stakeholders and frame business issues, value hypotheses and success metrics; translate initial requirements into Data Science and AI projects with clear roadmaps.
- Set up projects as Project Advisor end‑to‑end, including resource allocation, time planning, scalable solution architectures, and make/buy decisions; guide data landscape assessments with business experts to confirm coverage, quality, and access.
- Provide project oversight by leading cross‑functional expert teams (e.g., Data/Platform Engineering, Information Security) and by working closely with Consulting on large‑scale projects; provide guidance, unblock roadblocks, identify and set success criteria, ensure adoption and the quality of deliverables, and monitor solutions for performance, reliability, and costs.
- Guide teams on responsible AI and risk standards: align with privacy, security, and compliance; ensure documentation of evaluations, guardrails (e.g., RAG/LLM), and decision logs.
- Contribute to initiatives, e.g. best practices on templates, components, and playbooks to accelerate future use cases and ensure consistency.
- Develop the service offering and ways of working by shaping company‑wide action plans and aligning with stakeholders across the business and tech landscape.
- Lead and develop a team of 5–;7 experts by building a strong team identity, managing individuals’ career progression, providing regular feedback, and preparing people evaluations.
- Support the future growth of the organization by interviewing new candidates or by representing DHL Data & AI at events and conferences.
What you bring:
- You have 10+ years of experience delivering end-to-end Data Science or AI Engineering projects, and 4+ years leading larger expert teams working on complex solutions.
- You have a strong track record of shipping AI/ML products that create measurable business impact in a corporate environment, and you take ownership for turning ideas into outcomes.
- You excel at translating business needs into scalable AI solutions, making clear, pragmatic decisions along the way.
- You have a talent in building sustainable relationships and trust with stakeholders, bring clarity to ambiguous situations, and consistently turn initial idea discussions into successful projects.
- You bring strong technical oversight with fluency in Python and SQL, and hands-on experience productionizing ML/LLM solutions (services, pipelines, CI/CD, observability) in cloud environments (Azure/AWS/GCP).
- You have deep knowledge of retrieval/RAG, agent orchestration, prompt/versioning, tracing, and RAG evaluation, and can guide teams in applying these effectively.
- You communicate complex technical choices clearly and simply, enabling alignment across technical and nontechnical audiences.
- You lead with a people-centric style, define yourself not just as a manager, but also as a coach to your team, build trust quickly, and combine empathy with a pragmatic, outcome-oriented mindset.
- You are highly driven, take ownership naturally, and are motivated by shaping the direction and culture of a fast-growing organization.
