Purpose of the Role:

The roles primary responsibility is to develop, implement, and maintain effective labor relations strategies and policies. The incumbent will work closely with employees, union representatives (if applicable), and management to foster a positive and productive work environment while ensuring compliance with labor laws and regulations. The role is crucial in managing and resolving employee-related conflicts, promoting employee engagement, and establishing effective communication channels between various stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Industrial Relations Strategy: Develop and execute a comprehensive industrial relations strategy aligned with the company's goals and objectives. This includes creating policies, programs, and initiatives that foster positive employee relations, minimize conflicts, and maintain a productive work environment.
  • Conflict Resolution: Mediate and resolve conflicts between employees, management, and union representatives (if applicable). Investigate employee complaints, conduct disciplinary actions when necessary, and ensure fair and consistent application of company policies and procedures.
  • Compliance: Stay up-to-date with labour laws, regulations, and industry standards. Ensure compliance with relevant legislation and employment regulations to minimize legal risks. Advise management on labour-related matters and recommend appropriate actions to maintain compliance.
  • Employee Communication: Establish effective communication channels to disseminate information and ensure transparency between management and employees. Facilitate regular meetings, forums, and workshops to address employee concerns, provide updates on company policies, and promote a positive working environment.
  • People Management: Lead, mentor and develop the industrial relations team, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and professional growth ensuring team is equipped with necessary skills and knowledge to effectively manage industrial relations.
  • Stakeholder Management: Effectively engage and manage relationships with key stakeholders of the organization viz. Business Heads, Department Heads and concerned teams fostering positive relationship and ensuring organizational objectives are met.
  • Training and Development: Collaborate with the HR department to identify training needs and develop programs to enhance employees' skills and knowledge. Conduct workshops and training sessions on labour laws, employee rights, and dispute resolution techniques to promote a better understanding among employees and managers.
  • HR Policy Development: Contribute to the development and revision of HR policies and procedures related to industrial relations. Review existing policies and recommend improvements to align with best practices and ensure compliance with applicable laws.
  • Reporting and Documentation: Maintain accurate records and documentation related to industrial relations activities, including grievance resolution, disciplinary actions, and negotiations. Prepare reports on key industrial relations metrics and trends for management and regulatory compliance purposes.
