Within TPD, the Cloud Platform Supervisory Department (CPSD) develops and manages Rakuten's state-of-the-art cloud platform, empowering global scalability and accelerating innovation across its diverse business units.

The Cloud Management Department (CMD) leads Rakuten’s unified cloud infrastructure strategy by providing governance and essential tools to ensure seamless operation and high satisfaction among service providers and users. As the central point for strategy, planning, and process governance, we manage the cloud product portfolio, budgeting, quality, and security. Furthermore, we empower cross-departmental success through robust cloud foundation and management solutions.

Position Details

The Horizon Resource Management Team is committed to providing efficient, secure, and scalable resource management solutions for the Rakuten Group.

As a Core Data & Permission Management Product Manager/Project Manager, you will be responsible for the product strategy, planning, and development lifecycle management of Rakuten Group's Core Data Platform, and will lead the design, implementation, and optimization of the Group-wide Permission Management System.

The product under your purview is a B2B offering, with its intended user base comprising all Rakuten employees. You will be required to engage with stakeholders originating from various departments.

You will play a key role in ensuring the consistency, accuracy, and security of internal group data, while simplifying and strengthening user permission granting and management processes to support the rapid development of various business units within Rakuten.

Responsibilities

- Working with a team of engineers, business and leaders to contribute to improving service quality and understanding our customers' needs. Understanding how vital the requirement gathering process is.

- Translate the business requirements from our customers into something executable by the engineering teams.

- Understand customer and business problems from the potential solutions they might propose.

- Create, prioritize, develop product strategies, requirements that delivers your product vision, whilst supporting valuable services.

- Making sure that the requirements from our customers actually solve their problems, retrace their thought process back to the original problem and propose new and bold solutions.

- Be part of a team where we cultivate a culture of innovation by encouraging each other to experiment, pitch new techniques and ideas to enhance product features.

- Work closely with the team to define a product vision and share it accordingly with stakeholders and interested parties.

- Be part of a team of motivated product owners and help drive this team forward.

Mandatory Qualifications:

- 2-3 years of experience in being a Scrum Product Owner.

- Ability to clearly articulate requirements and specifications.

- Collaborate with engineering team(s) to ensure product quality.

- Strong technical and analytical skills.

- Be agile, have a mind-set that allows you to quickly respond to change.

- Exemplary communication proficiency.

Desired Qualifications:

- Have experience with product ownership on large scale, high performance systems.

- Understand development, as a bonus have experience as a developer.

- Experience working with different stakeholders with conflicting interests.

- Have guided waterfall teams towards Agile successfully.
