Job Responsibilities:
Accountable for ensuring Engineering processes, equipment and tooling align with EBM and program requirements to maximize EBM Safety, Quality, Throughput and Profit
Responsibilities:
Responsibility for quality and conformance of product to customer specifications per control plans utilizing TS16949 & ISO14001 documented systems, procedures and work instructions. Responsibility for Tooling and related process development either through vendors or internally. Authority to stop non-conforming processes and report same to supervisor, Quality Assurance and/or Engineering department representative
Develop and maintain qualified sources for subcontracting of tooling projects.
Monitor project costs as well as timeliness.
Interface with customer's quality, purchasing, and engineering personnel.
Support EBM project team and project manager as an active team member with the completion of timelines, action items, APQP documentation and CPMP information.
Provide engineering support for the duration of the program including tool design reviews, tryouts, and launch support.
Coordinate with Cosma and vendors for simulation studies.
Lead Hot Stamp Tooling Design Signoff and Buyoff Signoff Process and Documentation to ensure alignment with EBM targets for tooling standards, quality and financial targets (rate, blank size, etc.)
Lead Hot Stamp Production and Technical team with the programming, optimization, and monitoring of all functionalities of the hot stamp process (oven, press, robotics, tooling, and tooling equipment)
Lead Hot Stamp Production, Technical team, and tool room with the updates, modifications, and continuous improvement projects for Hot Stamp process through best practices and new technology investigation and implementation.
Lead VAVE (VALUE ADD / VALUE ENGINEERING) activity with Cosma and EBM staff for Hot Stamp tooling and processes.
Lead the review and implementation of standards (Customer Standards, Cosma Standards, CQI, etc.) for the design of Hot Stamp tooling and processes and audits.
Assist the Hot Stamp technicians and maintenance personnel on how to properly operate and troubleshoot the hot stamping processes.
Assist Toolroom with the optimization of the purchase and maintenance of spare parts.
Evaluate cost-effectiveness and present justification to customers for replacement tooling projects.
Generate and implement Continuous Improvement projects.
Housekeeping and other activities as assigned.
Qualifications:
3 to 5 year's experience in Tool & Die Maker, Tool Design, and Engineering
Skills:
Tool and Die Maker skills.
Tool Design capabilities, mechanical drawing ability applied to CAD.
Problem solving skills.
Ability to plan and manage the APQP process.
Ability to understand customer requirements; have blue print reading and G.D.&T effective communication with the customer, vendors and team members at all levels of the organization is a priority.
Ability to conduct effective meetings.
Ability to read, write and speak English.
Ability to access data stored on LAN (Local Area Network) and PC (Personal Computer)
Ability to read blueprints, metal fabricating, G.D. & T and TS16949 requirements, computer aided design
Education:
High School Diploma or equivalent
Journeyman Tool and Die Maker and Engineering degree preferred
Engineering Degree and/or 5 years related Journeyman Tool and Die Maker experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Minimum of 3 years of hands-on technical experience that is demonstrated in Tool and Die and Hot Stamping
