Chief Operating Officer (COO)
OWNDAYS – Japan
Role Overview
The COO will own end-to-end business operations for OWNDAYS Japan, driving scale, profitability, and operational excellence across retail, supply chain, manufacturing interface, and omnichannel execution. This role partners closely with the CEO and leadership team to translate strategy into execution, ensuring consistent customer experience, strong unit economics, and sustainable growth.
The mandate is to run the business tightly, improve margins, standardize operations, and build systems and teams that can support aggressive growth in a highly competitive retail environment.
Key Responsibilities
Business & P&L Ownership
Own overall operational P&L performance, cost structures, and margin improvement
Drive productivity, efficiency, and profitability across stores and operations
Translate strategic goals into clear operating plans and execution priorities
Retail & Omnichannel Operations
Oversee Japan retail network performance including store operations, productivity, and customer experience
Drive excellence across store openings, closures, and performance turnaround
Ensure seamless omnichannel execution across offline and online touchpoints
Supply Chain & Fulfillment
Partner with supply chain and manufacturing teams to ensure availability, speed, and cost efficiency
Improve inventory turns, forecasting accuracy, and working capital
Strengthen last-mile fulfillment and service-level performance
Process, Systems & Governance
Build scalable operating processes, SOPs, and governance mechanisms
Drive adoption of technology, analytics, and dashboards for decision-making
Ensure compliance, controls, and operational risk management
Cross-Functional Leadership
Work closely with Commercial, Finance, HR, Tech, and Supply Chain leaders
Act as the execution anchor between strategy, retail, and backend operations
