About Lihir
Our Lihir Operation, located on the beautiful island of Niolam, approximately 800km north of Papua New Guinea's capital, Port Moresby, is one of the world’s largest gold mines. Set within a geothermically active, extinct volcanic crater, Lihir operates an open-pit mine producing refractory ore, which undergoes pressure oxidation and conventional leaching to recover gold. Our workforce includes both residential and commute rosters, creating a diverse and dynamic team. Lihir offers a range of recreational facilities, including a gym, sports club, restaurant, bar, swimming pool, tennis and squash courts, and a 9-hole golf course. Your impact
Reporting to the Site Supply Chain Lead at Lihir, the Advisor, Contract Management supports the effective delivery and performance of site‑based contracts, ensuring alignment with procurement strategies, governance frameworks, and operational requirements, and contributes to the overall success and continuity of site operations.
The role coordinates and oversees post‑award contract management activities across the contract lifecycle, maintains effective supplier relationships, supports cost optimisation initiatives, and ensures site contracts deliver agreed safety, operational, and commercial outcomes. The role also supports local content, community engagement, and sustainability objectives through monitoring supplier compliance with contractual requirements.
As part of our team you will
- Manage post‑award site contracts across their lifecycle, ensuring supplier performance, compliance, and strategic alignment.
- Support contract performance reviews and reporting to drive improvement and value.
- Maintain effective relationships with internal stakeholders and suppliers.
- Assist with contract variations, negotiations, and dispute management.
- Conduct contract audits and compliance reviews and track follow‑up actions.
- Identify and support cost reduction and savings opportunities.
- Contribute to ad hoc and continuous improvement initiatives.
Prerequisites for your success in the role
- Strong attention to detail with solid contract administration capability
- Experience in contract management, procurement, or supply chain roles
- Exposure to ERP and supply chain systems (e.g. SAP, Ariba)
- Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities across contracts and projects
- Experience in operational industries (e.g. Mining, Oil & Gas, Construction, Supply Chain or Logistics)
- Tertiary qualification or equivalent experience in Business, Commerce, Supply Chain, Law, or related discipline.
Your work environment
This role is based at Lihir, with preference for Local Lihirians and PNG Nationals, however FIFO arrangements may be considered for the right candidate.
Working on site requires adaptability, commitment to roster schedules, and a strong safety mindset in a dynamic operational environment.
