Your Impact

This seasonal position provides hands on technical and labour support to the Legacy Site Team during the summer construction and operational season at a closed or decommissioned mine site. The role supports the safe and compliant operation of a highly automated wastewater treatment plant and assists in delivering environmental monitoring, health and safety compliance, and site remediation activities. Working under the guidance of the Team Lead, Legacy Sites, the incumbent applies sound problem solving skills, environmental awareness, and a strong safety mindset in a remote industrial setting. This Summer role is a Monday to Friday, location-based position.

As Part of Our Team, You Will
  • Support daily operation and maintenance of a wastewater treatment plant, including equipment cleaning, inspections, process checks, chemical handling, sample collection, meter calibration, and preventive maintenance.
  • Assist with environmental compliance and monitoring programs, including preparation, collection, shipment, and documentation of water, soil, air, and waste samples in accordance with approved protocols.
  • Maintain accurate monitoring records, inspection logs, chain of custody forms, and data entry/reporting using MS Office and specialized software.
  • Conduct workplace, environmental, and regulatory inspections of the treatment plant, tailings areas, aggregate pits, and other site facilities; document findings and support corrective actions.
  • Participate in daily tailgate safety meetings and complete Activity Hazard Analyses for assigned tasks.
  • Provide general labour and technical support to operations staff and contractors, including site cleanup, brushing, progress monitoring, note taking, and inventory organization.
  • Assist with updating Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), manuals, and site documentation as required.
  • Operate light duty vehicles and ATV/UTV equipment to support sampling and site activities.
Prerequisites For Your Success In This Role
  • Preference for candidates pursuing or holding a technical diploma or degree in Environmental Sciences, Engineering, or a related field.
  • Driver's license is required for this role.
  • Relevant field experience (mining experience considered an asset).
  • Strong organizational, communication, and teamwork skills with the ability to work independently and take initiative.
  • Knowledge of environmental and occupational health and safety regulations; familiarity with regional regulations is an asset.
  • Experience with process control systems, PLCs, instrumentation, minor mechanical repairs, and computer/software systems is an asset.
  • Relevant certifications (considered assets): First Aid, Confined Space Entry, TDG, WHMIS, OHS Awareness, Fall Arrest, ATV Operation, Pleasure Craft Operator Card, Bear Aware course.
Your Work Environment
  • Field-based work at remote mine sites and within wastewater treatment facilities, with exposure to harsh weather conditions and wildlife.
  • Physical demands include walking on uneven terrain, climbing ladders and stairs, lifting materials, confined space entry, and use of fall arrest systems.
  • Required use of personal protective equipment, including respirators, hard hats, safety footwear, eye and hearing protection.
  • Operation of vehicles, small equipment, and process control computers.


This is a location-based position and not a fly-in/fly-out (FIFO) camp role; Con Mine is located in Yellowknife, NWT. The successful candidate is expected to reside in, or be able to relocate to or commute daily to, Yellowknife, NWT, for the duration of the seasonal work period. The position will run from May through the end of August.

The expected salary range for this role is CAD $ 31.00 / hour. This range is tied to the British Columbia market for jobs performed in British Columbia.
