Project management is a credentials-heavy profession, and hiring managers look for PMP, CSM, or SAFe certifications before reading your experience. Within each role, organize your bullets by project rather than by responsibility — this mirrors how hiring managers think about PM capability. Lead each project bullet cluster with the project's budget, team size, and outcome, then follow with 2-3 supporting bullets about specific contributions.
How long should a project manager resume be?
For 0-5 years of experience, one page. For 5-10 years, one to two pages. For 10+ years or director/VP-level roles, two pages. Never exceed two pages. Senior PMs often struggle with length because they have managed many projects — the solution is ruthless prioritization. Keep only the 3-4 most impressive projects per role, cut any bullet that is not quantified, and remove roles older than 15 years unless they add unique value (e.g., a Big 4 consulting stint or a Fortune 100 company).
