Job Summary
The Technical Estimator / Engineer develops efficient manufacturing processes to produce customer-designed components and assemblies while providing accurate cost and time estimates to support sales efforts and profitability goals.
This role is responsible for converting new quote requests into production-ready work, ensuring estimates are competitive, executable, and aligned with margin targets.
Key Responsibilities
Prepare accurate and competitive job estimates for customer quotes, including materials, labor, machine time, and outside services
Develop and document detailed job methods for manufacturing and quality teams
Leverage CNC machining expertise to evaluate process feasibility and cost drivers
Collaborate with Sales, CNC Programmers, Engineering, and Quality to ensure quotation accuracy
Support customer-facing technical discussions and assist Sales with engineering inquiries
Analyze completed jobs to evaluate quoted accuracy and profitability; recommend improvements
Develop automated quoting processes using customer-submitted solid models
Contribute to CAPEX planning by recommending machining and automation equipment and software
Apply additive manufacturing for fixture and workholding design
Develop measuring techniques for complex parts using CMM, laser, and optical inspection technologies
Supports operations in Libertyville, Mesa, and Thailand.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or related field; or equivalent experience
Strong knowledge of CNC machining and related manufacturing processes (laser cutting, waterjet, grinding, polishing, EDM, additive manufacturing)
Experience with SolidWorks and Mastercam
Familiarity with metrology equipment including CMM, laser, and optical inspection
Experience with cutting tool technology and collaborative robot integration preferred
The salary range for this position is $75,600-94,500. Factors such as scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/training, job-related skills, internal peer equity, as well as market and business considerations may influence base pay offered. This salary will be subject to a geographic adjustment (according to a specific city and state), if an authorization is granted to work outside of the location listed in this posting.
