Northrop Grumman Mission Systems is looking for a Sr Principal Quality Engineer with experience in quality to join our Program Quality Team supporting the Global Mission Solutions Business Unit in Baltimore, MD on a dynamic and exciting program within the Northrop Grumman Corporation portfolio.
In this role you will be performing or assuring quality, drawing interpretations, data trending analysis, and maintainability of program requirements. Additional support will be collaborating with and visiting various suppliers to ensure hardware and document compliance and inspections. Qualified candidates work as part of a larger team, demonstrate a high level of attention to detail, possess the ability to plan and be customer-support focused. Individuals must also have demonstrated ability to evaluate whether documents, instructions and procedures are being followed during execution of all phases of the program and demonstrate strong verbal and written communication skills. The candidate may specialize in the areas of design, incoming material and inspections, production control, product evaluation and reliability, auditing, and inventory control as they apply to product or process quality.
Additional activities and day to day responsibilities will include:
Facilitates and performs Root Cause Corrective Action (RCCA), HQMS and Continuous Improvement activities.
Ensures that performance and quality products conform to established company and regulatory standards.
Support review of Key Performance Metrics (SRR, FTTTY, FTTIY) and Charts used to identify trends and track performance processes and quality performance.
Identifies and reviews product non-conformances.
Able to create and present executive-level presentations and/or reports.
Lead process improvement efforts.
Interface with Program Team to resolve quality issues in timely manner.
Trains/Peer mentoring.
May also be certified in lean and six-sigma quality engineering methodologies.
We are looking for a driven self-starter with high initiative and a motivated self-learner to fill this position.
This position is full-time on site.
Basic Qualifications:
Bachelor's of Science Degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) with a minimum of 8 years of relevant experience in quality and/or manufacturing; OR a minimum of 6 years in quality and/or manufacturing with a Masters degree.
Experience working in a quality environment or investigating failures and identifying root causes.
Active DoD Secret Security Clearance
US citizenship required
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with dispositioning hardware for quality related issues in a manufacturing facility.
Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD SAP security clearance
Experience with Material Review Board (MRB) process.
Experience with SAP
Experience in PFMEA (or any other risk analysis methodology).
Experience Facilitating RCCAs with technical groups
Experience and/or with Earned Value and budgeting.
Experience and/or experience in support of proposals and quoting of Quality hours in bids.
Green/Black Belt Certified in Lean Six-sigma.
Experience with supplier on board and supplier quality
