Sensory & Consumer Research Associate - Fabric Care

The global creative center for Fabric Care is based in Hilversum, the Netherlands. Within this hub, our teams develop fragrances and scent technologies that enable our customers to create market‑leading laundry products.
At IFF, we are a consumer‑centric organization. The Sensory & Consumer Insights team plays a critical role in product development by representing the voice of the consumer across the business.
Your Role
Within the Innovation team at the global Fabric Care creative center, we are looking for a Sensory & Consumer Research Associate.
In this role, you will be a key contributor to sensory and consumer research projects, supporting creative, marketing, and commercial decisions through robust insights.
Where You’ll Make a Difference
Research Project Management
Coordinate consumer and sensory research projects and ensure timely execution
Translate business and research questions into appropriate study designs
Support questionnaire development, agency briefings, and fieldwork coordination
Manage sample logistics and perform data quality checks
Data Analysis & Insights
Analyze large sets of raw data
Conduct advanced statistical analyses using IFF statistical tools
Interpret results in collaboration with senior team members
Translate findings into clear insights and actionable recommendations to support fragrance development
Knowledge Management & Communication
Contribute to building comprehensive project reports
Debrief conclusions and results with senior colleagues and managers
Deliver final presentations to key internal stakeholders
Address routine questions regarding study design and content
Category Expertise & Collaboration
Support continuous improvement through the development of best practices for the Fabric Care category
Ensure global alignment by maintaining strong cross‑functional relationships and effective communication
What Makes You the Right Fit
Education & Experience
Master’s degree in Sensory Science, Psychology, Economics, Sociology, Design, or a related field
2–3 years of experience in Consumer Insights or a related discipline
Technical Skills
Solid understanding of consumer insights methodologies
Basic knowledge of statistics and data analysis
Comfortable using statistical software such as R, JMP, XLStat, or similar
Excellent proficiency in Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
Personal Attributes
Strong interest in fragrances and insights‑driven market research
Very good written and verbal communication skills in English (additional languages are a plus)
High learning agility and strong results orientation
Effective team player with a collaborative and informative working style
Organized, curious, autonomous, and proactive
Ability to thrive in a complex and fast‑moving environment
