About the role
The Travel Distribution (TRD) unit builds scalable, user‑centric solutions for the global travel distribution ecosystem. Our products span travel seller experiences, API‑based platforms, AI‑powered capabilities, and next‑generation distribution solutions.
The UX team is an international group of UX Designers, UX Researchers, and UX Writers working closely with Product Management, Engineering, and Product Marketing to drive customer discovery, innovation, and a shared customer‑centric vision.
Role overview
As a Senior UX Design Specialist, you will collaborate across design, product, and engineering teams to shape intuitive, effective experiences for complex B2B workflows, including both travel seller‑facing interfaces and API‑driven products.
You will independently drive design for moderately ambiguous problem spaces, translating real customer insights into scalable, high‑quality solutions that improve learnability, effectiveness, and overall user experience.
Key responsibilities
Design & delivery
Lead end‑to‑end design delivery for medium to large initiatives, from discovery through development readiness.
Produce high‑quality design artefacts including user flows, information architecture, wireframes, high‑fidelity prototypes, and development specifications.
Simplify complex workflows into clear, consistent, and easy‑to‑learn user experiences.
Deliver visually consistent, brand‑aligned design artefacts.
Contribute to the evolution of design guidelines, principles, and design systems using research‑backed patterns.
Translate ambiguous problems into validated solutions using research, data, and design expertise.
Clearly articulate design decisions using evidence‑based narratives and design assets.
Contribute to evolving UX practices by constructively challenging existing thinking and encouraging innovation.
Comfortable leveraging AI‑enabled design tools to support efficiency and exploration, while applying strong design judgment.
User‑centred design
Apply user‑centred design methods with a strong bias for thoughtful execution.
Partner with UX Researchers and data teams to plan, conduct, and apply research insights.
Use qualitative and quantitative findings to inform and validate design decisions.
Cross‑functional collaboration
Plan and facilitate design workshops with cross‑functional teams and customer representatives.
Collaborate with Amadeus Design System teams to ensure consistency and scalability.
Participate in and contribute to cross‑team design critiques to raise overall design quality.
Scope & influence
Typically works transversally across one or more related product areas and multiple scrum teams.
Contribute to Amadeus UX community initiatives and shared practices.
Support and mentor junior designers through feedback and collaboration.
Qualifications
6–9 years of relevant UX design experience, including 4+ years working in cross‑functional or transversal environments.
Experience designing for global B2B SaaS products.
Strong working knowledge of information architecture, user journeys, UX research, and visual design.
Proven experience taking solutions from problem discovery through customer delivery.
Experience collaborating with globally distributed teams and stakeholders.
Customer‑ and user‑first product mindset.
Proficiency with design and collaboration tools such as Figma, Jira, Miro, or equivalent tools, and openness to emerging AI‑enabled design workflows.
Strong storytelling and presentation skills across varied seniority levels.
Comfortable navigating ambiguity and using design to bring clarity and alignment.
Differentiator skills (nice to have)
Experience designing API‑based or developer‑facing products.
Service design experience.
Background in the travel or travel‑technology industry.
