Senior Specialist, HSE – Consumer, Renewables and New Energies

Reporting to the Sr. Manager, HSE – Consumer, Renewables and CNE, this asset-focused role provides technical consultation and direction to the workforce, project teams, and leadership across a wide range of Operational Excellence (OE) and Health, Safety & Environment (HSE) matters spanning design, construction/fabrication, and operations within Consumer, Renewables, Commercial and Chevron New Energies (CNE). The position executes OE/HSE requirements, including verifying field implementation of safeguards and fit-for-risk OE controls, and partners with project teams and operations to ensure compliance with regulations, manage risk, and assure safeguards.
Responsibilities for this position may include but are not limited to:
Provide OE/HSE technical consultation and direction to the workforce, project teams, and leaders across Consumer, Renewables, Commercial and CNE activities.
Execute OE/HSE requirements for assigned work, including design, construction/fabrication, and operational phases.
Verify field implementation of safeguards and fit-for-risk OE controls; identify gaps and support actions to strengthen execution.
Partner with project teams to integrate OE/HSE requirements into planning and execution activities.
Collaborate with operations teams to ensure compliance with applicable regulations, manage OE/HSE risks, and assure safeguards.
Apply Human and Organizational Performance (HOP) principles to strengthen learning, risk awareness, and consistent execution.
Collect and analyze OE/HSE data, identify trends and root causes, and recommend practical solutions that reduce risk and improve performance.
Support planning and oversight of high-risk activities by helping define expectations, confirming safeguards, and aligning stakeholders on critical controls.
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Safety Management, or related field.
5+ years of experience in HSE, or Downstream, Midstream & Chemicals Operations.
Strong knowledge of HSE Management Systems and regulatory compliance.
Excellent coordination, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with change management is preferred.
Demonstrated HSE leadership, including experience executing HSE programs in operations and/or projects.
Strong understanding of HSE tools and processes and ability to apply them in a fit-for-risk manner.
Broad health, environmental, personal safety, and process safety capability to identify, mitigate, and manage OE/HSE risk.
Ability to collect and analyze data, identify root causes, and develop solutions.
Experience planning and managing high-risk work and confirming effective safeguards.
Demonstrated ability to set clear OE/HSE direction, align stakeholders, and support multiple projects/programs simultaneously.
Strong influencing skills across functions and stakeholder levels; results-oriented, accountable, direct, and decisive.
