Senior Software Engineer - Application Middleware Connectivity
Description & Requirements
We are the engineering team responsible for the infrastructure products directing Bloomberg customers across the globe to their optimal nearest Bloomberg network locations to access news and market data. We provide a platform for all the application teams within Bloomberg that have global connectivity needs to easily integrate with us and direct their applications to the closest network locations. Our platform shields the application teams from knowing any details regarding network topology or resource availability and offers superior connection resiliency & visibility. Our platform provides options for clients to connect to a diverse set of network locations to withstand any connectivity-related outages without compromising on latency. Our team owns the critical connectivity infrastructure piece which is the core of our platform that directs all of our clients to Bloomberg. We are a highly visible team and work with a wide variety of groups within Bloomberg.
We are currently tasked with a major re-architecture project to make our product offering self-serviceable. We are looking for team members with strong background in system design combined with superior skills in software development. As a member of our team, you will be tasked with developing full-stack software solutions that have a wide impact across all our customer base. You will collaborate extensively within the team and with our partners within Bloomberg to provide solutions that are meeting client’s needs and to deliver new features that support our key initiatives. We are currently modernizing our platform, and this is a great opportunity for you to design, develop and build solutions from the ground up. You’ll be empowered to influence the architecture of a mission-critical platform and gain exposure to large-scale distributed systems.
- Linux, C++, Python, PostgreSQL, Kafka, Javascript/Typescript, Docker and Kubernetes
- 4+ years of professional software development experience
- A Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, similar field of study or equivalent work
- Demonstrated experience building enterprise applications with an object-oriented programming language (C++)
- Demonstrated experience with SQL and relational databases
- Terrific communication & collaborative skills
- Full stack experience
- Experience building distributed applications
- Professional experience in automated testing, CI/CD and all SDLC phases
- Familiarity with User interface (UI) design
