The NIDS4 program seeks a detail‑oriented engineer to act as the bridge between end‑users and the development team for two critical nuclear‑weapons targeting applications. The incumbent will define and formalize software requirements, verify that delivered software meets those requirements, and train new users all while leveraging deep knowledge of nuclear weapon targeting, design, and strategic employment.
Key Responsibilities
In this role you will work closely with subject‑matter experts to elicit and document user needs in a formal Software Requirement Specification with full traceability, then distribute that specification to the development team and serve as the primary point of contact for clarification throughout design and sprint reviews. You will create and execute verification and test plans that map directly to each requirement, logging any discrepancies and confirming compliance before release. Additionally, you will develop and deliver training materials for all new users, provide onboarding assistance, and gather feedback for continuous improvement, applying your in‑depth understanding of nuclear weapon targeting, system design, and strategic employment to ensure the software fulfills mission intent and adheres to security constraints.
Basic Qualifications:
- A Bachelor’s Degree along with 8 years of experience; or a Master’s degree in a related field with 6 years of relevant work experience; or 12 years of relevant work experience may be considered as an alternative to a degree.
- Applicants must have a current, active in-scope DoD-issued Secret security clearance at the time of application, which is required to start.
- Responsible for collecting and maintaining comprehensive user feedback and translating those needs into clear software requirement specifications to aid the development team in creating user stories and tasks.
- Generate well-defined requirements documents, test and verification documents, and training material & data.
- Responsible for application training for new users and software developers.
- Experience with verification and validation tests, the ability to independently and collaboratively develop test objectives, concepts, and architectures within the context of the strategic planning.
- Experience with Agile development methods, task tracking, issue resolution, and coordination.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Strong knowledge and experience with USSTRATCOM strategic targeting, design, and employment initiatives.
- Previous experience with production MPAS applications in the NC2 space.
- Previous experience using SNAPS or EPD applications.
- Active Top Secret / SCI clearance.
