Position: Research Associate/ Research Engineer

Position Summary:

The Research Associate will be primarily responsible for inorganic characterization of SG raw materials and products using techniques such as XRFICP-OESCHNS, and Ion Chromatography (IC). The role demands strong expertise in XRF, including method developmentcalibration, and instrument troubleshooting.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform routine and advanced inorganic analysis using XRFICP-OESCHNS, and IC.
  • Lead method developmentcalibration protocols, and troubleshooting for XRF and other analytical instruments.
  • Ensure instruments are well-maintained and coordinate repairs with service personnel.
  • Adapt analytical approaches for a wide range of materials and applications.
  • Maintain accurate records and ensure compliance with Saint-Gobains data management norms.
  • Collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and diverse stakeholders.
  • Prepare technical reports and communicate findings clearly.
  • Plan and prioritize daily lab activities with minimal supervision.
  • Maintain lab cleanliness, safety, and compliance with chemical handling and disposal regulations.
  • Advocate for behavior-based safety and responsible lab practices.
  • Ensure strict adherence to safety, waste management, inventory, and 5S standards.

Qualifications:

Educational Qualification:

  • M.Sc./ MTech in Chemistry/ Ceramics/ Construction materials with 25 years of experience in inorganic chemistry, preferably in an R&D or QC lab.
  • Hands-on experience in XRF and/or ICP-OES is essential.

Specific Skills / Personal Attributes:

  • Strong expertise in XRF operationmethod development, and instrument troubleshooting.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to work in cross-functional and diverse teams.
  • Strong analytical thinking, problem-solving skills, and attention to detail.
