Your Role and Responsibilities

We are looking for a Project Controller to join ABB's Critical Power business based in Napier, Hawke's Bay. In this role, you'll help run what runs the world, by taking on meaningful work that drives real impact.

Work model: Onsite | #LI-Onsite

  • Supporting the Business Controller by supervising project execution and performance with well-maintained schedule, cost, cash, and risk planning of individual projects.
  • Analyzing project requirements with the project team and checking that all essential work activities have been identified in sufficient detail to serve as a basis for developing realistic project schedules.
  • Monitoring project progress and regularly analyzing project critical paths to ensure all critical path activities and project milestones are progressed to the plan, while notifying Project Managers of any deviations and providing input for optimizing resources. Supporting risk review processes to identify, assess, and escalate project risks proactively.
  • Ensuring that the individual projects are closed as per contracts entered with customers in alignment with Project Manager and Project Controller.

Qualifications for the Role

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Business, Finance, or a related field.
  • 3+ years of experience in project planning, scheduling, and cost control within complex project environments.
  • Knowledge of project management tools and scheduling software (e.g., MS Project, Primavera); SAP PS module is essential.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to monitor critical paths, forecasts, and cash flow.
  • Experience working within a regulated environment with a good understanding of HSE requirements.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Mindset to innovate, take ownership, and drive continuous improvement.
  • Experience supporting project risk reviews and mitigation planning, with ability to identify and escalate risks proactively.
