Orchard - Project Director (Digital Transformation & Delivery)
We're looking for a Project Director to own delivery across one of our most significant client portfolios. This is a player-coach role: you'll lead and run complex programs yourself while setting the standard for how delivery works across the team, developing the PMs around you, and holding accountability for portfolio health, commercial performance, and client confidence.
What You'll Own
Portfolio governance — you maintain a live, trusted view of the program: milestones, dependencies, risks, and revenue. You pre-empt problems. You don't manage them in crisis.
Commercial accountability — you own the numbers. Budget vs actual vs forecast, change control, margin recovery. If a project is tracking off-plan, you flag it early with a view on recovery not after the write-off. You also keep a close eye on pipeline: spotting forecast dips before they become gaps, identifying growth opportunities within existing clients, and actively contributing to new business efforts.
Team leadership — you lead, coach, and develop a team of PMs with genuine investment. You build structures where work is owned at the right level, people are empowered to deliver, and you are not the single point of everything.
Client partnership — you are the senior delivery contact. You work in close partnership with Account Direction (not instead of them), translating business objectives into executable programs and building the kind of delivery credibility that retains and grows clients.
AI & continuous improvement — you use Claude and other AI tools as a genuine part of how you work. You bring new thinking back to the team, trial better ways of doing things, and help build Orchard's AI delivery capability from the inside out.

What We're Looking For
- 10+ years in digital delivery, agency experience preferred
- Proven track record across complex, multi-program portfolios $6M+ revenue responsibility
- Sharp commercial instincts: you understand margin, you own forecasts, you manage change
- A people-first approach to team leadership you invest in the people running the system, not just the system itself
- Systems thinker who builds frameworks that scale and empowers others to carry them
- Calm, transparent, and decisive under pressure you surface risk honestly and present clear options
- Hungry for growth you spot opportunities within existing clients and actively pursue new business; you see pipeline health as part of your job, not someone else's
- Comfortable with ambiguity you don't wait for a perfect brief to get moving; you create structure where there isn't any and make calls with incomplete information
- Active user of AI tools with genuine curiosity about where it's heading
- Committed to self-directed learning and bringing new thinking to the team
