The Summer Intern in the Materials Department will play a pivotal role in supporting the operations of Atlas Air. This position is designed for students who are eager to learn and develop their skills in inventory management, procurement, and logistics within the air cargo sector. The intern will engage in a variety of hands-on tasks, gaining insight into best practices in materials management while contributing to the efficiency of our operations. By collaborating closely with experienced team members, the intern will have the opportunity to apply theoretical knowledge in a real-world setting, enhancing their understanding of the aviation industry.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the inventory management of materials and supplies, ensuring accurate stock levels are maintained.
  • Support the procurement process by researching potential suppliers, obtaining quotes, and comparing prices.
  • Help maintain accurate records of materials usage, stock levels, and supplier information in the internal database.
  • Participate in quality control inspections, documenting findings and reporting any discrepancies or issues.
  • Collaborate with team members on special projects, such as process improvements or cost-saving initiatives.
  • Assist in the preparation of reports and presentations related to inventory and materials management.
  • Conduct market research to identify new materials and suppliers that could benefit the company.
  • Aid in the organization and cleanliness of the materials storage area, ensuring compliance with safety regulations.
  • Participate in team meetings, providing insights and feedback on ongoing projects.
  • Support the onboarding process for new team members by providing them with necessary resources and information about materials management.

Qualifications:

  •  Currently pursuing a degree in Materials Science, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • A keen interest in the aviation or logistics industry is a plus.
