We’re looking for a Software Development Manager to lead a team building backend data and analytics capabilities for Zillow’s Industry Software suite. In this role, you’ll help shape the systems, datasets, and technical direction that enable real-time and offline insights for industry users, while supporting a high-performing engineering team and partnering across the business.
You Will Get To
Lead the design and delivery of backend data and analytics platforms, including data services, metrics, pipelines, and datasets that power Industry Software applications.
Lead, hire, and develop engineers through coaching, feedback, and career support.
Improve team processes to accelerate delivery and maintain high-quality execution.
Partner with product and stakeholders to shape the technical roadmap for analytics applications.
Set technical direction and quality standards across engineering craftsmanship, observability, and performance.
Collaborate with business leadership, data science, product, and engineering teams to deliver end-to-end solutions.
Who you are
BS in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.
5+ years of software development experience using object-oriented languages such as Go, Java, or C#.
2+ years of experience leading engineers and providing technical direction.
Experience with data platforms and storage technologies such as SQL Server, Oracle, PostgreSQL/Aurora, Databricks, or DynamoDB, along with ETL workflows, data pipelines, and AWS tooling.
Experience architecting, building, and scaling resilient backend services using agile development practices.
Experience supporting customer-facing systems and responding to critical production issues.
Strong collaboration, communication, adaptability, and creative problem-solving skills in fast-paced environments.
