About the Position
A Capabilities Manager for Materials Planning typically owns the “how we work” for the materials planning function—building the standards, tools, and skills that make planners consistent, fast, and accurate across plants/BUs.The role will primarily report into the Associate Director Material Planning. This is a hands-on role in a fast-paced environment where the successful candidate must have the right attitude, be prepared to roll their sleeves up and be an excellent problem solver.
In brief, you will be responsible for:
- Process & ways of working: define standard planning routines (S&OE / weekly cycles), handoffs, and escalation paths
- Tools & data: improve planning system setup, master data quality, dashboards, KPI definitions, and reporting governance
- Performance management: track service/inventory KPIs, identify systemic gaps, drive root-cause problem solving and countermeasures
- Continuous improvement: lead projects that reduce shortages, optimize safety stocks, improve supplier/material availability, and cut waste/obsolescence
- Capability building: create training, onboarding, playbooks, and coaching for planners; run communities of practice
- Cross-functional alignment: coordinate with procurement, manufacturing, demand planning, customer service, and finance on policies and priorities
- Change management: roll out new processes/tools and ensure adoption (communications, training, adherence checks)
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Engineering, Business or related field
- 7+ Years Supply Chain experience preferably within FMCG
- Strong knowledge of S&OP, Supply and Material Planning principles
- Proficiency in Supply Chain & Supply Chain Planning software & tools preferred (OMP, Kinaxis, O9 or SAP APO)
- Proven track record to drive continuous improvement and operational excellence
