The (CCS) Practice provides end-to-end systemtechnological solutions for governments, donors, and the privatesector to address the crisis - spanning climate policy integration,finance mobilisation, low-carbon transitions, circular economy, nature-basedsolutions, disaster risk reduction, and just transitions for vulnerablecommunities. The Climate Change and Sustainability practice at IPE Globalhas substantial experience delivering multiyear and high-impact programmes formulti-lateral, bi-lateral funders along with philanthropic partners. These programmes are supported byleading donors and foundationsand are implemented in partnership with coveted research institutions, civilsociety organisations, and public institutions. The Climate Change and Sustainability practice of IPE Global is working in multiple projects acrossIndia, South Asia and Southeast Asia and in East Africa.
 
KeyResponsibilities:

Business Development (70%):

  • Identifyingnew business opportunities within India, South Asia, and Africa, developingleads, writing proposals, managing cross functional teams and contactingpotential donors.
  • Play a key role as manager with project staff tosuccessfully manage proposal efforts and resources, including timeline andaction planning, identification of proposal team members, facilitation ofexternal partner meetings, efficient communications, and organisation ofproposal components, including cost and budget
  • Keeping upto date with trends within the sector, undertaking outreach activities,generating reports, and presenting an analysis of business developmentprogress.
  • Expandingon CCSs current work, identify growth opportunities and develop annualstrategies in close partnership with team leaders and senior management.
  • Writing high-quality technical proposals and contributing toall aspects of financial proposal development. Undertaking independentresearch to identify suitable donors, assessing donor needs and alignment,conducting outreach activities and conducting meetings with potential funders,developing and making proposal presentations.
  • Support the development of relevant communicationcollaterals;
  • Ensuring targets are met periodically, generating reports,and presenting an analysis of business development progress.
  • Isopentone wide as and perspectives, activelyworks to identify new opportunities.

Programme Management (20%):

  • Provide support or leadership as needed to identify andsecure partners, consultants, and full-time staff;
  • Coordinate with project implementation teams to ensurequality and timeliness of deliverables.
  • Maintain a collaborative relationship with donor, funder,and/or client counterparts;
  • Oversee routine project management activities, includingreviewing and submitting project reports to donors, developing budgets and workplans, and backstopping operations as needed.
  • Ability to summarise and communicate theinsights/findings in written and oral formats.

Thought Leadership (10%):

  • Participate in appropriate networking events and staycurrent on developments and trends in the sector;
  • Represent IPE externally and contribute to marketingdocuments, blog posts, op-ed pieces, and success stories that share theorganisations expertise externally.
  • Collaborate with the Corporate Communications team toidentify strategic industry outlets and opportunities for presenting andsharing portfolio work and results;
  • Develop thought leadership content such as evidence papers,policy notes, and research publications.

EducationExperience:

Masters degree in environmental studies, Energy Studies, Resource Economics,International Development, Urban Planning or a related field, with a minimum of7 years of relevant professional experience, including demonstrated leadershipin developing and securing proposals for multilateral, bilateral fundingagencies and philanthropic grants.

Business Development Program Leadership:

Minimum 5years of professional experience in business development, program management,advocacy, knowledge management, and strategic communications within ClimateChange, Disaster Risk Reduction, Urban infrastructure or related domains.Demonstrated ability to identify opportunities, develop proposals, and managestrategic partnerships.

  • Stronganalytical capacity with demonstrated ability to synthesize complex technicaland financial information into strategic insights, investment cases, conceptnotes, and high-quality knowledge products tailored to diverse audiences.
  • Liaisingwith governments and donors.
  • Microsoftoffice skills necessary.

Skills and Experience:

  • Previous experience developing multi-year proposals forbilateral/ multilateral organisations, foundations and philanthropies. A goodgrasp of the Climate Change sector is a must.
  • Hands-on experience in structuring commercialproposals.
  • Experience and knowledge of climate change policy andprogram development, especially with low carbon and decarbonisation announcements and regulations demonstrated experience working with governmentagencies, stakeholder groups, and others, and experience with and understandingof climate financial markets.
  • Experience working with Governments and international aidagencies.
  • Experienced in working with data and comfortable using Excel spreadsheets as well as online data capture and reporting tools. Proficiency inMicrosoft Word and PowerPoint.
  • Having previous experience in devising and backing projectson strong knowledge of (a) climate change science, (b) the policy/ regulatory environment of climate change, and (c) how leading businesses areresponding.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, with a commitment tomentoring and team development.
  • Demonstrable team management experience and an ability tocommunicate effectively with colleagues and clients, both verbally and inwriting.
  • Demonstrated ability to consult, influence and liaise withinternal and external stakeholders.
  • Project Management expertise, including the management oflarge project teams
