Head of Medical, China 
Shanghai 

Ipsen is a global biopharmaceutical company focused on Oncology, Rare Disease and Neuroscience, driven by science and a clear commitment to patients. We are now seeking an experienced Head of Medical, China to play a pivotal leadership role within our China Leadership Team. 

This is a highly visible role, responsible for defining and leading the China Medical Affairs strategy, shaping scientific engagement, evidence generation, and medical governance, while ensuring full alignment with global medical strategy and local regulatory requirements. 

Your impact 

  • Set and lead the China Medical Affairs strategy, translating global frameworks into strong local execution 

  • Act as the senior medical leader in China, partnering closely with external experts, medical societies, patient groups and regulators 

  • Drive high-quality evidence generation, including post-approval studies and real-world evidence 

  • Ensure the highest standards of medical governance, ethics, compliance and patient safety 

  • Build, lead and develop a high-performing Medical Affairs organisation 

  • Collaborate closely with commercial, market access, regulatory and global teams to support long-term business success 

Your background 

  • Medical degree or advanced life sciences qualification 

  • Extensive experience in Medical Affairs within pharmaceutical or biotech, ideally in specialty care 

  • Proven leadership experience, including managing senior teams 

  • Strong track record in clinical research oversight, data generation and scientific communication 

  • Deep understanding of the China healthcare and regulatory environment 

  • Fluent in English; strong stakeholder influence and strategic mindset
