Finance Manager - APAC

We are seeking a proven Finance Manager to oversee the financial operations of the Japan subsidiary based in Tokyo. This role requires a hands-on leader who can manage a broad range of responsibilities across finance, accounting, and general administration, while acting as a trusted business partner to the local leadership team.

The position reports directly to the CFO, Americas & APAC, with a dotted-line reporting relationship to the APAC General Manager. The Finance Manager will support business reviews through accurate financial reporting, insightful business analysis, and strategic financial advice.

Key responsibilities:

Finance & Accounting

  • Ensure the timely and accurate preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements

  • Lead and execute month-end, quarter-end, and year-end closing activities

  • Prepare financial reports and reporting packages for submission to global headquarters

  • Manage day-to-day accounting operations, ensuring compliance with company policies and local regulations

  • Maintain and continuously improve internal controls and accounting processes

  • Liaise with external accounting firms, tax advisors, and auditors

  • Handle tax audits, customs inspections, and social insurance investigations

  • Support the CFO with APAC-level financial reporting and analysis

General Administration

  • Manage company contracts, internal documentation, and company seals

  • Support office operations, internal events, and vendor relationships

  • Oversee facilities management and related administrative activities

HR & Labor Support

  • Coordinate with external payroll and social insurance service providers

  • Manage work rules and internal regulations

  • Administer the attendance management system JOBCAN

  • Support employee onboarding and offboarding processes

Skills and Education

  • Substantial management experience gained in Accounting or Finance

  • Hands-on experience as a primary contributor to monthly close processes

  • Strong proficiency in Excel (VLOOKUP, SUMIF, Pivot Tables), Word, and PowerPoint

  • Practical experience with ERP systems and financial data visualization or analysis tools

  • Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent experience) in Accounting or Finance

  • Native-level fluency in both Japanese and English (reading, writing, and speaking)

  • Experienced working in a foreign-affiliated or multinational company

  • Experience with Microsoft Dynamics 365, Power BI, and/or IBM Cognos

  • Prior experience in general administration or HR support functions

  • Experience drafting, reviewing, or refining contracts and internal agreements

  • Ability to influence without authority is essential
