ENV SVCS WKR/HOUSEKEEPER

The Housekeeper is responsible for maintaining a clean, safe, and sanitary environment throughout the hospital campus. This role supports infection prevention, patient safety, and overall service excellence by cleaning and maintaining patient rooms, common areas, offices, and public spaces in accordance with OSHA regulations and organizational policies.
Essential Responsibilities
- Perform routine and scheduled cleaning of patient rooms, common areas, offices, dining areas, and public spaces
- Clean and sanitize walls, floors, fixtures, furnishings, sinks, tubs, mirrors, and high‑touch surfaces following infection control guidelines
- Dust and vacuum surfaces, including furniture, blinds, sills, and flooring
- Empty trash, replace liners, and properly dispose of refuse
- Maintain and stock housekeeping carts and linen closets
- Collect soiled linens and deliver clean linens to assigned units
- Select and use appropriate cleaning chemicals and supplies safely
- Maintain housekeeping tools and equipment in proper working order
- Follow wet‑floor and other safety procedures at all times
- Demonstrate Service Excellence standards in all interactions
- Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications
Education
High School Diploma or GED required
Experience
0–1 year of related experience required
1–3 years of housekeeping or environmental services experience preferred
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Ability to read and understand chemical labels and safety warnings
Knowledge of HIPAA regulations and patient privacy practices
Ability to follow written and verbal instructions
Commitment to safety, infection control, and compliance standards
Professional communication and teamwork skills
Physical Requirements
This position requires the ability to:
Stand and walk continuously during shifts
Bend, kneel, crouch, crawl, and reach frequently
Push and lift objects up to 25 pounds
Perform repetitive hand motions as needed
Work Environment
Frequent exposure to cleaning chemicals, dust, and allergens
Occasional exposure to loud noise, vibration, temperature changes, and confined spaces
May have incidental exposure to bloodborne pathogens; full training and protective equipment provided
