Collaborating with other network operators on energy strategy funded projects and leading on energy strategy projects when appropriate. Contribute to the ongoing development of decarbonisation policies and procedures. Present analysis and research relating to all areas of Energy Transition in Northern Ireland to the Evolve Senior Management Team. Expertise Knowledge of Northern Ireland energy industry Experience in a regulated environment A strong academic record Strong influencing and negotiating skills Strong numeric literacy with analytical skills Excellent organisation skills Flexible approach to new challenges The role above this role (Head of Regulation) is a more responsible role as they have responsibility for the whole team including the Transportation Service team and a Regulation Manager and require specific knowledge from the role below. The role above also deals more with how changes are communicated and key messages with their key contacts. The role differs from the one above, as this role requires the job holder to have a detailed understanding of specific energy strategy projects and specialist knowledge in this area. They will be responsible for communicating important changes and their impact and to be able to react to this quickly with relative autonomy. This role also requires specific energy strategy knowledge. There are no roles directly below this role within the Regulation team. Complexity Generally speaking, the typical problems encountered in this job are regularly non-routine/complex, with solutions requiring analysis, experience and knowledge, for example: A typical problem the job holder is expected to deal with themselves is when a change is proposed, to assess the impact on Evolve and to relay information back to the organisation by responding appropriately. A typical problem the job holder will need to seek advice on is the impact on that department for different internal departments or support for progressing to align with industry. The job holder does not typically escalate problems for someone else to deal with, instead they would work with the Head Of to resolve if required. The job holder may raise certain things with the Head Of or the wider SMT, so they are able to communicate where necessary to maximise influence. The most difficult aspect of this job is defining the position that is within Evolve’s interest and then defending that position with a large number of external companies to secure the best outcome. This job requires someone who can think strategically and tactically. Impact The successful candidate will be responsible for attending meetings across a range of work areas within the energy strategy space such as specific energy strategy project working groups and the industry Energy Transition Operation Group. The role potentially has far reached internal and external impacts, as they will be expected to reflect Evolve’s purpose, intention and defend against adverse decisions. If the company is not suitably represented in these areas, then this may contribute to a significant financial impact on Evolve with potentially large costs. The person fulfilling this role will need to be aware of non-compliance risks arising if processes are not working properly, as Evolve could incur financial penalties and regulatory intervention. This could potentially contribute to significant reputational damage. The role may also contribute to safety implications if processes are not working properly or defined inappropriately.
