The Data Governance Lead is responsible for shaping and delivering SGN’s Data Governance Strategy and Framework. The role includes the creation, running and development of Dtaa Governance Forums across SGN’s critical data domains – HR, Finance, Procurement and COO. The Data Governance Lead will: Own SGN’s Data Governance Strategy and Framework Design and drive the roadmap for the rollout and maturing of SGN’s data governance capability. Key relationship manager for federated data ownership – leading the onboarding and engagement of Data Owner and Data Stewards across the business data domains Design and deliver ongoing training on data governance principles, policies and standards to stakeholders at all level of the organization Design and lead on the adoption of data governance KPIs for a senior stakeholder audience up to and including Exec Level steering committees. Lead on the interlock of process and decision making between SGN data governance capability and Transformation Programme Governance. Key relationship manager with project teams, technical teams, and other business areas to share knowledge on the activities undertaken within the data governance team. Work closely with the Data Sharing Lead to ensure data sharing processes are compliant with data governance principles. Co-chair data governance forums and take accountability for secretariat duties. Work closely with the Enterprise Data Architecture function, taking ownership of reporting and escalation between business and technical data governance forums Design, deliver and own data prioritisation processes to ensure critical data assets are identified and managed within risk appetite Promote a strong data culture by Shaping, building and lead the Data and AI Community of Practice activities for data stewards and data owners to ensure the adoption of data governance best practice, including compliance with Ofgem’s Data Best Practice Guidelines. Shape and manage the pipeline of content for critical data governance artefacts such as data dictionaries, the SGN enterprise data catalog and data glossaries. Own the relationship with SGN’s data protection office to ensure all data governance activities are compliant with data protection law Ensure appropriate record keeping for decisions, actions and data needs for each data governance forum in line with the Terms of Reference. Design and advise on data governance processes, tools and controls that ensure critical data assets in source systems and data platforms are treated as assets and meet QFAIR principles Own the appropriate reporting and escalation of data issues that impact critical business outcomes. Shape and deliver new Data Governance policies Manage the workload and priorities of contractor data governance analysts. Skills/experience Degree or a higher-level qualification in a relevant discipline and/or the equivalent experience working in high performing data and IT functions. Excellent communicator - ability to influence stakeholders at all levels in the organisation and can convey complex concepts by adopting appropriate style to suit the audience across different business and technical backgrounds Strong collaborator - experience of cross- functional working and building strong relationships across diverse stakeholder groups through sharing resources, skills, knowledge and ideas and chairing or supporting data governance forums or committees. Extensive knowledge of data governance frameworks such as DAMA-DMBOK and experience of designing and implementing data governance strategies and frameworks In-depth, hands-on experience as product owner of data management tools and data management disciplines of metatdata management Understanding of data modelling, data engineering and data architecture principles Knowledge or experience of areas of compliance Ofgem data regulation and risk management, data quality management, data security, and data privacy regulations.
