As we expand into Australia, we are establishing a regulated presence under AUSTRAC oversight. We are now looking for an AML/CTF Compliance Officer to drive local implementation of our compliance framework and strengthen internal controls in line with Australian regulatory expectations.   About the Role The AML/CTF Compliance Officer will be the officially designated individual responsible for overseeing Toss AU's compliance with the Anti-Money Laundering and Counter-Terrorism Financing Act 2006 (AML/CTF Act) and associated AML/CTF Rules. This role carries real authority and accountability — you will have direct access to senior management and the Board, the ability to enforce AML/CTF requirements across the organization, and operational independence to make risk-based decisions. You will act as the primary liaison with AUSTRAC and ensure Toss AU's AML/CTF program remains effective, risk-appropriate, and audit-ready.   What You'll Work On AML Program Ownership Own and maintain Toss AU's AML/CTF Program in accordance with the AML/CTF Act and AUSTRAC Rules Conduct and maintain the Enterprise-Wide Risk Assessment to reflect the current risk environment Develop and maintain AML/CTF policies, procedures, and internal controls aligned with the nature and scale of Toss AU's business Customer Due Diligence Oversee CDD/EDD processes and ensure they are applied appropriately across customer segments Maintain oversight of customer risk rating methodology and escalation workflows for high-risk cases Transaction Monitoring & Reporting Oversee transaction monitoring systems, alert thresholds, and investigation workflows Make independent decisions on SMRs and ensure timely filing of SMRs via AUSTRAC Online Maintain records in line with AUSTRAC record-keeping obligation Sanctions Compliance Oversee sanctions screening against DFAT, UN, OFAC, and EU consolidated lists Maintain sanctions-related policies and act as the designated sanctions implementation officer Governance & Oversight Report directly to the CEO and Board on program performance, emerging risks, and regulatory developments Coordinate annual independent reviews and design and deliver AML/CTF training for relevant staff Regulatory Engagement Serve as the primary AUSTRAC contact for supervisory inquiries and audits Monitor regulatory updates and ensure timely adaptation of internal controls   What We’re Looking For Must-Have Australian resident (legally required under the AML/CTF Act) 7+ years of AML/CTF experience, with at least 3 years in a leadership or senior compliance role within a reporting entity Strong working knowledge of the AML/CTF Act 2006 and AUSTRAC regulatory expectations Proven experience filing SMRs and maintaining AML/CTF programs Independent judgment with the confidence to escalate or block without deference to commercial pressure Strong communication skills, including AUSTRAC engagement and Board-level reporting CAMS Certification Preferred Experience in a fintech, digital wallet, or payments environment Familiarity with DFAT sanctions regime and cross-border payments compliance Experience responding to or preparing for regulatory examinations or supervisory reviews by AUSTRAC or equivalent authorities Experience collaborating with a global HQ AML/compliance team in a multi-jurisdictional environment Personal Attributes High ownership mindset with strong prioritization and independent judgment Demonstrated integrity, honesty, and soundness of judgment in prior roles Clean regulatory and supervisory record — no adverse findings, serious convictions, or unresolved conflicts of interest (fit and proper standard per AUSTRAC requirements)   What We Offer A high-impact regulatory role shaping Toss’s AML/CTF foundation for our Australian expansion.
