bp Azerbaijan is looking for a Well Test Engineer to help deliver safe, compliant and high-quality well testing / flowback operations that enable confident subsurface decisions and efficient well delivery. You will work with bp teams and specialist contractors to plan, assure readiness, and support execution - while ensuring robust data capture and excellent post-job learning
The Well Test Engineer is accountable for the safe, compliant and effective planning, execution support, and delivery of well testing and flowback operations across bp-operated assets in Azerbaijan.
The role ensures that well test objectives are translated into robust engineering designs, operations are executed safely with competent resources, and high‑quality well test data and reporting are delivered to support subsurface and production decisions.
The incumbent will also be accountable to deliver engineering practice, design, job planning, scheduling, execution and post appraisal as well as provide operation assurance at the well site during execution.

What you will deliver:
Promote a strong safety culture across all well testing activities, focusing on inherently safe designs, procedural discipline, adherence to standards and collaboration with stakeholders
Manage and work collaboratively with well testing teams and associated contractors to develop safe designs and operational procedures.
Act as a mentor to develop and coach less qualified or experienced engineers.
Operational site-based supervision of well testing and related operations as required.
Lead and coordinate management of regional resources and activity with direct input from regional and functional management and engineering teams.
Review operational failure incidents, analyze root cause effects and present findings to ensure a positive learning culture.
Write technical reports and be computer literate with relevant office and technical software packages
Manage or support hazard identification, hazard operability studies, well operations reviews, certification and Engineering Reviews.
Integrate service providers and client demands to deliver safe, efficient and compliant operations.
Participate in contractor performance reviews and drive continuous improvement
Provide onshore logistical and operational support for regional activity.
In this role, we have the following requirements
Education:
University degree in Science/ Engineering or equivalent technical degree
Essential skills and experience:
Proven experience of Well Testing and demonstrable deep knowledge, understanding and experience of Well Testing operations, including offshore and high rate gas.
Lead the design and engineering of Well Testing systems and operations in offshore and high-rate environments.
Experience in Project Management and direct supervision of site-based operations.
Experience of field operations in remote and complex environments.
Extensive experience covering design, preparation and maintenance of relevant surface process, DST and subsea safety systems used in well testing operations.
Understanding of Process Safety principles and experience of detailed HAZOP studies and other process safety activities.
Ability to travel offshore
Strong communication, interpersonal and relationship building skills with the ability to work in multidiscipline environment
Able to work independently with little supervision
Strong English language proficiency, both written and spoken
Desired Criteria:
Well Control for Subsea and Surface Supervisory Level to Industry Accreditation for example (IADC, IWCF or equivalent)
Offshore survival (BOSIET) or equivalent and approved Offshore Medical Certificate
Experience and understanding of completions, wellwork, well integrity, well barriers and petroleum engineering
Experience with remote Well Testing operations
Experience of working overseas
