Job overview and responsibilities


This position is responsible for joining and cutting metal alloy parts using welding and cutting processes such as coated electrode, tig and other methods of welding used in the aviation industry. Prepare equipment, accessories, welding and cutting consumables and parts to be welded.
 

  • Interpret blueprints and drawings and take or read measurements to plan layouts and procedures
  • Repair machines and other components by soldering parts and filling gaps
  • Test and inspect welded surfaces and structures to find faults
  • Determine appropriate welding equipment or method based on requirements
  • Setting up components for welding to specifications (for example, cutting materials with chainsaws to match measurements)
  • Welding components using manual or semi-automatic welding equipment in different positions (vertical, horizontal, or overhead) 
  • Operate angle grinders to prepare parts to be welded
  • Align components using calipers, rulers, etc., in addition to fasteners
  • Responsible for keeping equipment and work area clean and orderly
  • To be successful, the qualified candidate requires the utmost professionalism, integrity and work ethic while possessing a visionary skill set that will successfully carry the team into the future
  • Must have Brazilian Norm NR -12 training and certification 
     

     

    This position is offered on local terms and conditions.  Expatriate assignments and sponsorship for employment visas, even on a time-limited visa status, will not be awarded. This position is for United Airlines Business Services Pvt. Ltd - a wholly owned subsidiary of United Airlines Inc.

Qualifications

What’s needed to succeed (Minimum Qualifications):
 

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Welder training at a renowned educational institution (SENAI is preferrable)  
  • Local driver´s license
  • Must be legally authorized to work in Brazil without sponsorship
  • Previous NR-12 training and certification
  • AWS (American Welding Society) certification is preferrable and considered a plus
  • 3 years’ experience performing welding in aeronautical industry
  • Must have extensive knowledge of welding process applicable to the aeronautical industry
  • Electrode and TIG are examples of welding process to be adopted
  • Comply with instructions, weld inspection runs (IEIS); consult drawings and specifications; identify material (consumable) to be used in the work; provide tools; obey the procedures for handling solar consumables with bulkheads in the workplace
  • Use personal protective equipment; report failures in machinery and equipment; use collective protection equipment; check ambient lighting; respect the work factor of the equipment (power, time of use, etc); ensure cleanliness in the workplace
  • Must be legally authorized to work in Bazil for any employer without sponsorship
  • Must be fluent in English and Portuguese (written and spoken)
  • Successful completion of interview required to meet job qualification
  • Reliable, punctual attendance is an essential function of the position
