Full-Time Position
We are looking for a Wardrobe Technician to join our Wardrobe team. The Wardrobe Technician will work on day and/or night shift to ensure the smooth running of shows, as well as the maintenance and fabrication of costume items. Under the guidance of leadership, all Technicians are expected to support the show and their co-workers in a positive and professional manner. All duties are to be performed in accordance with department and property policies, practices, and procedures.
The Wardrobe Technician will:
- Perform maintenance/show tracks which may include: cleaning, laundering, repair/maintenance of costumes, headpieces and accessories, pre-show costume check, pre-set and running show tracks, nightly show laundry and closing procedures;
- Build, alter, embellish and transform costume items in accordance with show design and performance requirements;
- Maintain cue track documentation and participate in cue track rotation and trainings, as directed;
- Attend artists trainings and show staging sessions, when needed;
- Document maintenance practices and repair notes, as needed;
- Assist with the inventory, ordering and tracking of the department's supplies and equipment;
- Maintain a flexible schedule for work calls, including costume maintenance, show calls and PR events;
- Maintain a safe working environment at all times, by conforming to all established safety policies and procedures; Be available for required yearly safety classes;
- Help with organization and cleanliness of the workspaces;
- Perform all other job-related duties as needed, such as: assist in tracking and ordering of shop supplies, assisting in PR events, updating costume inventory when needed, keeping updated on yearly OSHA classes.
The ideal candidate will have the following qualifications:
- Under-graduate theater production training (or equivalent work experience);A
- Working knowledge of costume/shoe repair, painting, makeup, theatrical wigs and millinery;
- Experience with body measurements, flat-patterning, draping and stock altering;
- Experience working with home/commercial sewing machines and specialty machines;
- At least 2 years experience as a professional costume dresser for a large-scale production show;
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills to deal effectively with co-workers;
- Professional appearance and demeanor;
- Availability to work varied shifts, including weekends and holidays;
- High School diploma or equivalent;
- Fluent in English, both written and spoken;
- Ability to obtain OSHA 10 course completion card;
- Previous experience working in a multicultural group environment;
- Previous experience working in a similar theatrical setting;
- Ability to perform the essential functions of the job including, but not limited to: crouching, kneeling, standing, lifting, sometimes for extended amounts of time; lifting at least 50lbs unassisted, etc.; Full list of essential functions will be sent in the offer.
